Hey all!

As my arsenal of video equipment has grown, multiple capture cards has joined my productions.

Very recently, I bought the all new AverMedia Extremecap U3 (CV710) and started noting some color-degrading in the input (colors were shifted to the right) and now I want to make a "benchmark" for the raw quality the capture cards deliver.

The benchmark will consist of a vector .svg file of the classic color bars, opened in a browser in fullscreen, and then taking a screenshot of each in vMix.
Hardware wise, it will be a HDMI cable running from my HD 7790 graphics card through a 4-way HDMI splitter so that all cards get the same signal.

Then I'll post the raw images aswell as a .gif loop cycling through them for easy comparison.

Thoughts on this?

Cheers,

EDIT: My current capture cards are: Blackmagic Intensity Pro/Shuttle, Matrox MXO2 Mini and AVerMedia Extremecap U3

Can you explain in more detail what you mean by that?

I've been using an Extremecap U3 with vMix for over 9 months and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with it.

So I'm done with the tests, and the results are following:

Album with raw photos grabbed from vMix: http://i.imgur.com/gnxLxd2.gif

IMO, the biggest differences are between the purple/green where one can easily see how they mix together because they make black.

Also, the blacks aren't as true on the Matrox as the others are (but this wasn't on the pictures).

Thoughts?
