We have this issue where our producers constantly forget to start recording when they start streaming.

I know it's an option in OBS, is it possible to have a couple of tick boxes in the streaming menu that start recording and/or multicorder when they start the stream?

we've been looking into different scripting and macro options to do this, but none work with our workflow/systems as our producers are working remotely and VNC'ing into the workstation remotely and running different saves at different times making task scheduling and scripting very difficult and not reliable.

Options include:

- Scripting (eg. https://forums.vmix.com/...g-for-Dummies#post71124; check Streaming instead of Recording status, start Recording)
- Triggers (Is there a consistent workflow? We usually have a image or video at the start of a show. You can set a OnTransitionIn or Out trigger on inputs to start recording. I have one on all camera inputs)

Hi!
You might want to check out a free tool I've been developing called VRC (Video Recording Control Hub). It is designed specifically for remote monitoring and control, and it can handle this exact automation scenario without relying on local vMix macros or specific save files.
Here is how it solves your problem using its built-in Watchdog (Watch Rules) engine:
Rule Setup: You can create a rule that constantly monitors your broadcast status in the background.
Trigger & Condition: You can set it so that WHEN the Stream starts -> CHECK if Recording and/or Multicorder are active.
Auto-Fix: If the producers forgot to start them, VRC automatically detects the mismatch and instantly sends the StartRecording / StartMulticorder commands to vMix.
Workflow Independent: Because VRC operates externally via the API, it stays persistent. It doesn't matter which preset or save file your remote producers load; the safety rules will always apply.
You can download the latest release and try it here:
👉 https://github.com/Kotin-ak/VRC-Releases/tags on GitHub
Let me know if you decide to test it and need any help setting up the Watch Rules for your specific remote workflow!
