Hi everyone. Can anyone help?
I need a long-term (a month or more non-stop) recording with hourly segmentation, but I want each file (segment) to have a name indicating the segment's creation date and time. Currently, when recording, only the initial name of the start of the day and time of recording is created, and then only the segment number. This is really necessary.
for example, what it looks like now
MultiCorder1 - DeckLink Duo (3) 3 - 05 марта 2026 - 06-19-47 - 00096.mp4 09.03.26 19:19

MultiCorder1 - DeckLink Duo (3) 3 - 05 марта 2026 - 06-19-47 - 00082.mp4 09.03.26 05:19
MultiCorder1 - DeckLink Duo (3) 3 - 05 марта 2026 - 06-19-47 - 00081.mp4 09.03.26 04:19

In this case, the actual date of file creation is visible only in Explorer or Film Manager.

And as needed

MultiCorder1 - DeckLink Duo (3) 3 - 09 марта 2026 - 05-19-47 .mp4
MultiCorder1 - DeckLink Duo (3) 3 - 09 марта 2026 - 04-19-47 .mp4

Essentially, file names should be the same as those in a surveillance camera video recorder.

Is it possible to set this file name format in Vmix?
Thanks

This is understandable, but when writing long segmented records, it uses the original name, not the unique one for each segment.

I must be missing something or rather not fully understanding (from original post)

"Essentially, file names should be the same as those in a surveillance camera video recorder." ????

Nooooo. Look. You click "Record" with hourly segmentation. A file is created, for example.
MultiCorder1 - DeckLink Duo (3) 3 - 09 марта 2026

This recording lasts for a month or longer, and all files will be named

Their title doesn't change at the time the file (segment) itself is created. If you need to find a file from a specific day, you need to look for extended file creation dates. This wasn't a problem before, until a large number of files had to be sent to regulatory authorities, and they're dumb and only understand the file name, which hasn't changed since pressing RECORD.

It is necessary to change the file name at the moment of their creation by the program itself, and not to manually restart the recording - as is done by video recorders of surveillance cameras.

Ok, now it think i understand the issue: seems like this post https://forums.vmix.com/posts/t3...ame-for-split-recordings
the date format is not following the real date when a new file is created
I would suggest a bug report or at least ask for an explanation as to why

an in the meantime solution would be to rename the video segment with the creation date inserted/added to the filename, would only have to run the script like once a day or when needed/wanted

Thanks, of course! But that doesn't help, and it looks like there's no built-in solution. This is a really bad recording error. It's not immediately clear why this wasn't anticipated (or tested)... it's really, really bad.

Yes, as i said ask support for an answer to why

And if really imported and urgent have a script to deal with it for now (tested and works)

FYI vMix scripting IS a build-in solution !

Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with scripting. I assumed this was intended by the developer and simply required an additional option in the recording settings...
