Ok here is a dumb question. The church I help with has a laptop that they use and its going bad. Before it totally dies, upon my recommendation They are going to buy a new laptop. While they are doing that the wife and I decided to donate the upgrade to the new 29version (They are running a 23). Its only the 350 dollar upgrade as they have 1 camera and 2 mikes and average 17 slides and about 10 different camera views inserted (thus we cant use the cheaper 60 dollar).
anyway
What would be the best way to accomplish both and install on the new laptop and a upgrade at the same time with the old version code. Do I need to install the old first (which is near impossible due to the old install files not available) or what? BTW Im going to recommend they keep the download install on a stick and keep it in a safe place incase.
Thanks
Rick

@ w7psk This video might be helpful: Then all you need to do is install the new key on the new computer and open the saved Preset. Ice

With the upgrade you get a new Key and can download the latest from the website.

If your slides are external, preset bundles are the easiest way to migrate the entire production to a new machine.
However, they were only introduced in vMix 25.
So, since you're looking to upgrade anyway, if you can, I'd recommend upgrading your current machine to v29 to export the bundle, then moving the bundle to the machine (or an external/removable drive).
That way, you won't need to locate or reimport your external files.
If I misunderstood what you meant by "slides" and you don't have any external files you need to move, a simple preset file is enough.
You'll also, just to be safe, want to export your global config file and reimport that on the new machine.
Since it's already December, I'd recommend waiting a bit (if you can) and buying the upgrade after the first of the year, since, unless something's changed, upgrades seem to have the same cutoff for updates as new licenses (and those are generally based on Jan 1).
