Hi everyone,

I’m using vMix Call regularly for our news show and I’m facing an unusual audio issue for the past week. When I create a new vMix file configuration, everything works perfectly at first. However, after 1–2 hours, the audio starts developing a noise/distortion — something like a “chit-chit” sound.

During troubleshooting, I found that if I create a new configuration again, the issue disappears, but only for another 1–2 hours before the noise comes back. Streaming and all other functions remain normal throughout.

We are using a Netgear AV switch in our setup, in case that information is useful.

This is my first post in the forum, so any guidance or suggestions on what could be causing this issue will be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

Have you checked the stats in Call Manager.

I always keep the stats window open during calls to monitor the bandwidth. The video remains fine consistently — only the audio is affected.

I’ve already tried several adjustments — sample rate, bandwidth settings, and other recommendations from AI tools — but unfortunately there’s no improvement so far.

Ok, so it starts great and then always at 1-2 hours it starts to degrade. Have you checked your Antivirus software or further down the line at network level some packet inspection.

Thanks for replying 🙏
There is no antivirus on the system, so that part is ruled out.
Regarding packet inspection, I’ll definitely take suggestions from an expert — and if possible, could you please help elaborate on this further? It would be really helpful to understand what to check and where exactly.

Thanks again for your time and support.

In enterprises it's more likely that they protect their network at bit more than maybe a home network. I previously did streaming for the financial market and networks are very locked there. Packet inspection happens at the entry point(s). They get scanned and cached to find potential threatening communications. vMix is a P2P communication that is suspicious per se. So maybe having a chat with the IT department of what you do what you use and if they see any issue with it.
Now after the corona narrative, many companies use Teams, sometimes even allowed NDI and configured their network for a good experience. With Teams there is also an option for eCDN. So chances are very good if you struggle with vMixCall to shift to Teams and extract participants over NDI for your production. The users are experienced with Teams as well and onboarding is easy. I use a presenter feed meeting as the greenroom, extract the speakers from there over NDI and send them into vMix for program mixing. Zero issue with that in corporate environments honestly.
