The one thing I liked the most was the 4 additional overlays. During a production switching around with only 4 overlays was a pain.

Just wanted to say thanks.

I just tried to open my HD version and had some dificulty and much confusion about my key not working. But, got the software updated and working. Apparently just in time??? I bought it in 2020. It kept saying my key that never expires needed more money to work. While loading the software it stated it was free if purchased after January of 2020. I did not want to crank up the computer with the 4K version so I was trying to put my HD version on this laptop.

Guess the HD version does not get the 8 overlays?

Your Lifetime vMix license key can be used forever with the version it is licensed to use, that never expires.
What does expire are your FREE updates.
vMix guarantees you at least one year of FREE updates, which often extends well beyond that depending on when you bought and when the next major version is released.
Once your FREE updates expire, you have the option to purchase the update/upgrade for $60 which gives you another 12 month guarantee of updates to the latest release of vMix, otherwise, you can continue using vMix with the version you have till the day you die.

All editions of vMix support 8 Overlays in vMix 29 except vMix Basic HD which only supports one:

I Know but my license would not load. It kept giving me an error message to update. The only way it worked was to download and install the new version of that licensed version from my account page. And ignore some other error that came up about shutting down something. Then it opened up. That is why I said it was confusing. It reminded me of the 365 rent-a-program scheme. You dont pay the rent you dont have access to the program. That to me was a very sore spot. I was about to pay the $60 for 12 more months because I normally use the fully updated 4K version and did not want to move that license back and forth. I remember reading some where that vMix frowned on to many deactivations and reactivations;which, is why I bought this extra License for my laptop though I seldom ever use it.

Thinking about it, the problem might have been that the 4k version was loaded on this laptop before I bought a backup desktop. I transfered the license to the new desktop but the 4K version was still the loaded version. When it asked for the license I put the HD license in and that is where the problem started.

Looking into buying a ryzen 9 desktop... and the fun starts again. Hmmm... Forth computer or new truck??? decissions decissions.
