Hey vMixers... I've been in denial and I feel like the best first step is to tell on myself. I built this machine in 2018 and I have NO evidence that it's ever burped, crashed, or dropped even a single frame of vMix video. I have a vMix 4K license and I use the machine regularly. I've always kept with the updates (vMix and Windows) but as we all know, Windows 10 is sunsetting. I just love coming down to my studio, turning it on and KNOWING it's going to work perfectly. I don't have the time, patience or desire to spend time and money setting everything up again. I did a livestream today, a 2-hour Zoom webinar with 3 other presenters via vMix Call, multiple scenes, and a dozen additional inputs - and again, not even a burp or dropped frame. Is it over? Do I just stay with Windows 10 in its final state of being? I was told this machine wouldn't handle Windows 11 - and I'm not sure that's true. I don't know enough about anything required to make that call. Just wanted to get some other eyes and brains on this. Thank you for any thoughts you have. Barry

Use what is known, tried, tested and works ...DO NOT UPDATE to Windows 11....I did and regretted....if its not broken, don't drop it....keep your system as is until you have no other choice and have to update.

2018 - what cpu/mb? if it's not supported by Win11 then it's not really a question is it? :-) Win10 isn't going to suddenly quit working. You run a security risk (viruses etc) but IMO a single user in the world is a pretty small target, I don't think I would worry about it. If it's working for you then keep using it. When it doesn't work for you anymore time for an upgrade. My .02

Thank you for the quick input @AudioGreg and @Luis70. Much appreciated. I am going to stay with this while keeping the brain thinking/looking for a good time to take the next step. I just popped my machine specs into Claude AI with a similar prompt and got some interesting (albeit dated) advice that matches what you two are saying. Here's the exchange if you're interested.z https://claude.ai/share/...0-4e1a-8bd9-79a85aacc90e

I have no intention of moving to Windows 11 any time soon. I switched my Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, and had no issues at all. It kept all the files, apps, settings, etc. Didn't have to reinstall anything (I did have to reactivate vMix though). Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC will continue to receive security updates until 2032. There are guides online for how to make the switch.

I enrolled my PCs in the W10 Extended Security Updates program through October 2026 for no additional cost. I'm sticking with W10 as long as I can.
