In professional broadcast workflows, two audio limitations in vMix remain problematic

No Pre-Fader Sends to Buses

Currently, any audio sent to Bus A–G is always post-fader and post-mute. This makes it impossible to monitor or route signals (especially vMix Calls) independently of the operator’s fader position. In real broadcast environments, production teams often need a dedicated “production Solo/PFL bus” to monitor clean signals regardless of the main mix faders. Workarounds (duplicating inputs, NDI Audio Outputs, etc.) are either not viable (e.g. vMix Calls cannot be duplicated) or inefficient (activating all NDI Audio Outputs overloads the system).

Feature request: Please add an option to send inputs to buses in pre-fader mode, so buses can be used as proper PFL/monitoring paths.

Benefits: True production monitoring of calls and other sources, independent from the operator’s faders. Eliminates the need for external workarounds, second vMix systems, or complex macros.

AutoMix Always Hard Cuts Audio on CUT Video Transitions

Currently, when Audio AutoMix is enabled, the audio transition type strictly follows the video transition type:

  • Video CUT = Audio CUT (hard cut).

  • Video FADE = Audio FADE (smooth).

This results in unpleasant “audio chops” when cutting between inputs, especially noticeable with music, remote calls, or continuous ambience. In broadcast, it is often preferred that all audio transitions use a short fade, even when the video transition is a CUT.

Feature request: Please add an option in Settings → Audio → AutoMix to allow audio fade on CUT transitions, using the same duration as the Audio Transition setting.

Benefits: Cleaner and more natural audio transitions in live productions.

These two additions would greatly improve vMix’s suitability for professional broadcast workflows while keeping current behavior as default for existing users.
