I’m trying to use a set of PNG files as a transition in vMix. When I import the transition through the vMix encoder, the result gets converted to JPEG, and a black background is added. I need the transition to remain a transparent PNG so that the video underneath is still visible. Some PNG's are 80+ frames.

All of the source files are PNGs with transparency, and they work perfectly on Newtek TriCaster without any issues. Any guidance on how to keep the transparency intact in vMix would be greatly appreciated. I use the keep transparency alpha button in the converter but still no luck.

Hi,

Not sure what app you are referring to as we don't provide any tools with the options you have described.
Instead PNG transitions are imported directly into vMix from the Add Input -> Image Sequence tab, no conversion required.

Regards,

Martin

Sorry — I was referring to video-to-PNG conversion as well. However, even when I import regular PNG files directly into an input, the black background still shows up instead of staying transparent.

Please double check you are using the Image Sequences option in vMix.
Failing that please contact support directly:
