Question: Is vMix expecting stereo or mono audio channels—and can it be set to expect mono?

We’ve been using vMix since the pandemic, and I just noticed that each audio input meter shows two parallel vertical bars. That probably means it’s expecting stereo. But all of our inputs from the X32 are mono. Does this matter for vMix?

Here’s why I’m asking: We always have to boost input gain by about +6 dB in vMix, and I’ve never understood why we needed to. If vMix is expecting stereo but only getting one mono that could explain it. Half the signal means lower perceived level. Or maybe I’m just overthinking it.

Worth noting: we do sometimes play prerecorded music in vMix in stereo. So ideally, we’d want to handle both mono and stereo signals cleanly.
