vMix 14 Preview (14.0.0.52 Beta) is here!

Please Note: This is a preview release for those who like to live on the edge! There will still be some bugs, so it is not recommended for production use.

http://www.vmix.com.au/download/vmix14preview.exe

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, please report any bugs or issues in this thread.

Note: New features should not be submitted here, please use the Feature Requests forum instead.

Experimental FFMPEG Streaming

* Added support for FFMPEG streaming as an alternative to FMLE.
* This can be configured from vMix Settings -> Performance
* Supports a single bit rate stream with x264 video and AAC audio.

Settings Restart

* vMix will now detect settings changes and prompt to restart automatically. This will save the current preset
and load it again automatically. Streaming/recording/external etc will all need to be started again manually.

Changes and Features

* Main window and audio mixer positions are saved
* New video engine with native interlaced input/output support
* Audio mixer quality and performance improvements
* Stereo audio inputs can be split into two independently controllable mono sources
* Improved fullscreen smoothness on 50p/60p outputs
* Fullscreen dropdown menu only shows active displays
* If Mouse Click Action is set to Cut, Cut button changes to Prv

* Changed deinterlacing dropdown in Camera input to simple Interlaced checkbox
Will automatically select best deinterlacing method based on output frame rate
* MOV/MXF playback improved when paying files of different frame rates
* "None" option added for Fullscreen displays, labels renamed to be more consistent
* Frame rate in Streaming Window set to read only as changing it has no effect
* New setup wizard added to allow easy selection of project format
* Improved XAML smoothness under some situations
* Added SetOutputFullscreen2 shortcut
* Additional dropdown option added to Camera input for blackmagic devices.
This is in addition to Decklink Video Capture and may provide better compatibility with some cameras

* FIX: Flash/RTMP video would pause briefly when the UI was busy
* FIX: AAC decoding issues fixed with some RTSP sources
* FIX: Volume control hidden from recording audio mixer panel when volume will have no effect
* FIX: UI issues when display set to custom DPI
* FIX: Disabled "Always On Top" for detached audio mixer since it can cause confusion
* FIX: Resetting offline input was not resetting any attached virtual inputs
* FIX: Reduced flicker when changing volume from API
* FIX: New blackmagic external output device was not setting connector format
* FIX: WMV recording was rounding 29.97 to 30

I ended up looking through the labelling of everything and ended up only changing the labelling of the Fullscreen options in settings.
If you think the naming of some of the UI elements is unclear, let me know and I will do my best to explain the reasoning behind them.

Regards,

Martin

Awesome, going to have a play with FFMPEG!

Looks smooth after 10 mins, though AVG did pop up with a false positive when starting the stream.
Did a scan and got 0/50 flags so all good :)

I have not tested this but I am here to say a BIG WELL DONE to Martin for his dedication and efficiency...

Pure dedication and hardworking... Worthy of emulation.

Thanks Martin and keep the flag flying...

Same Problem as in v13:

I've noticed a bug in the trigger function. There you have actions as "set alpha" or "setText" in the function-dropdown. This sounds quite good and using this function would make work much easier. But there is no text field to type in a value. In the shortcuts-window you can set a function and a value for this action (f. ex. "200" for "set alpha") In the trigger-window are only text fields for "duration" and "delay".

Would be great if this text field could be added.

Regards,
Yannick

The recording audio fader had no effect in past versions so it is hidden.
The only case where it does change the audio is if you specify an audio source other than vMix Audio in which case
the fader controls that audio source volume directly.

Do you plan to add "BOB" deinterlacing method, so "50i" inputs (live cameras or video files) can be played as "50p" ?

Deinterlacing is automatic in vMix 14. So if your output is set to 50p and the camera is 50i
the bob deinterlacing will be used. If the output is only 25p, then blend would be used.

Hi Martin.

Changing Settings->Display->Preview/Output Colour do not trigger the restart prompt.

Kind regards,
Jan

OK...
....another question, will auto reload last setup be implemented..?
Rather than having to click on "Last Preset" each time vMix is opened...

This is really an interesting point. I tested this function, too, with same result. It would help us a lot in various applications, especially in combination with overlays. So Martin, please take a closer look at this and try to solve the problem as soon as possible.

Hi Martin,

Nice work again! Thanks for sorting the functions. Much better.

I submitted a feature request for the PowerPoint input via the API / shortcuts.

Regards,
Hanno.

Could you provide some examples of scenarios where you would want to trigger something with a value?

This may be a graphics card glitch but it seems as though when I minimize and then maximize the window, vMix does a sort of laggy redrawing of the whole window. Before I upgraded to v14 I do not believe that this happened.

@admin:
An example is the production of an ice hockey game. There we have have commercials as presenter for different statistics f. ex the topscorer. So we have this video clip and a title with the players name and the value for this statistic. Now we set the title as overlay1 in the multiview-settings of the video clip. Now a trigger for alpha would be perfect. So we could Set alpha from "0" to "255" and fade in the Information when it fits into the table (which appears after 5 seconds in the video clip). So we could automize this process.
This function would make work much easier.

Yannick

Thanks Martin! Looking forward to try out all the new things.

First check (currently most important to me) is that custom fonts still does not seem to work in neither the Title Designer, nor in vMix's Title/XAML inputs.

How about the general improvements of vMix13 and 14, is it wise to upgrade from vMix12-SD to vMix13 or vMix14 if non of the new features are needed?
