Hi,

has someone streamed via SRT to Wowza Video (formerly Wowza Streaming Cloud).

I tried to setup a SRT Caller in the vMix SRT settings. I left the Passphrase empty because Wowza Video don't use passphrases.
But vMix is not accepting the hostname because Wowza Video is not using a IP. Wowza Video is using this format: srt://"some code".entrypoint.cloud.wowza.com.

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply.

I tested it and at first vMix didn't accept the hostname (dc9d44eda12c.entrypoint.cloud.wowza.com). The error message in vMix was "ValidateSRT". Even if I started the SRT server in Wowza Video Cloud, it was not possible to connect using that hostname.
Then I found out that when I start the server in Wowza Video Cloud, a new field with the direct IP appears in the backend of Wowza. That worked then. But why can't vMix work with this URL "dc9d44eda12c.entrypoint.cloud.wowza.com"?
Normally its just a dns name, or am I wrong?

The hostname will work as well.

What is happening is that hostname on Wowza doesn't get assigned until you start the server on their end.

I started the Server on their end, but hostname didnt work just the IP.

But I am on 28.0.0.25 Beta, maybe thats why.

There are no known issues with using hostnames in vMix SRT even in the latest beta.

I tried to ping the hostname locally just now and it is not resolving, so not related to vMix.
It sounds like they only setup the hostname temporarily, and your computer's DNS was caching the non-existent hostname even when it was started.
