Hello all...for almost two months I've been using vMix to broadcast 3 RTSP streams from Tapo security cameras to YouTube. This has worked flawlessly until yesterday, when 2 of the streams became corrupt for no apparent reason.

>Nothing has changed in the configuration of vMix or the cameras
>All 3 streams play in VLC perfectly
>Restarting vMix did nothing
>Updating vMix to 27.0.0.89 did nothing
>Restarting the PC did nothing
>Building a new preset from blank with the same URLs did nothing

You can see what I'm seeing here: https://youtube.com/live/MHjBJTxjh7s?feature=share

I'd appreciate any ideas on what to try next. Thanks!

You say all 3 play in VLC perfectly. Did you try all 3 at once? Possibly there's a network issue causing congestion. Just a thought.

Also, I would try recreating your layout in OBS. This might help narrow down the cause. If it plays okay in OBS, the problem is probably vmix. If it is also corrupted in OBS, then vmix isn't the problem.

One more thing, IP cameras have configuration settings on the camera for the RTSP stream. Things like bitrate, resolution, etc. I would also try fiddling with those settings to see if that makes vmix happy. I know you say nothing changed. But with IP cameras, who knows. Maybe a power glitch caused the settings to revert to something else. Who knows. It's worth checking out just in case.

Setting it up in OBS, great idea I hadn't thought of. I started with OBS but it could not keep up with the cameras in real time. I'll let you know how it goes.

All 3 play in OBS, no issues. Now what? Reinstall vMix?

Then I'm out of ideas. It might be time to contact vmix support.

The problem was that the two corrupt streams were somehow switched from TCP to UDP in vMix; UDP doesn't work with Tapo cameras. The remaining question is: why did they switch in the first place? I didn't touch a thing. Oh well...thanks to Ben Tulp in vMix Support for a quick solution.
