Good afternoon! I am currently starting to test out the new Zoom integration feature in vMix. We do not plan on using this as a way to bring in individual panelists' audio and video, but rather to stream directly to a Zoom webinar. I can see when I connect to our company's Zoom account, my scheduled webinar does not appear in the "Meeting" drop-down menu, and I have to manually type in the meeting ID, which is totally fine. Just a noted difference between a zoom "meeting" and "webinar."

My question is:
If we were to host a webinar and have 600 participants watching, if I open up the "Zoom Manager" am I going to see a log of every single participant joining and leaving AND will that take up a lot of demand on the vMix software and our streaming computer if that's happening throughout?

Thanks very much!
Kristina

Hi Kristina,
We use the Zoom Integration in vMix27 very extensively on a daily basis, and are extremely pleased with the outcomes. If you're planning on streaming from vMix into a Zoom Webinar, you do not need to connect or host the Zoom session through vMix. I would suggest you use the Zoom desktop app on another PC if possible. Easiest thing to do is RTMP from vMix or your encoder appliance straight into the Webinar. Zoom recently released this feature. If you were planning on joining a Zoom Meeting from vMix to 'stream' or 'record' and pull speaker audio/video into vMix to mix a production - you will see ALL meeting attendees under 'participant source'. In my opinion it will be unmanagable with more than 50 people. The other option if you join the Zoom Meeting using vMix is that you could use the 'return feed' to accompany the speakers in the meeting. Videos, graphics slideshows as an example and spotlighting the speakers and return feed together.

TL;DR - Zoom Webinar = RTMP from vMix

I hope this helps :)

Thank you so much for the reply, this is extremely helpful. Currently the way our control room is set up (without getting too much into the weeds of our setup) we don't currently have another free PC that we could use the Zoom desktop app on to stream. This is something for us to think about though for the future because it does solve a problem. Clicking on the new RTMP livestream link you posted is also good to know! I see though that this feature is currently only supported in Zoom Events and Zoom Sessions. We have not upgraded to that streaming platform and instead are using another platform that works with our Zoom Pro account.

Back to what you were saying with seeing all the meeting attendees: Do you think it is unmanageable with more than 50 people just for tracking purposes, or do you think that it places too much demand on the vMix software and the computer it's streaming from? We don't anticipate needing to open up the Zoom manager ever during the production, but just knowing that it's tracking everyone who joins or leaves makes me slightly worried that that is too much for the system.
