Greetings, everyone!
I am a vMix programmer at Casablanca Online, a leading company in broadcast solutions in Brazil. For more details about our company, visit our website at: https://www.casablancaonline.com.br/?lang=en.
This discussion centers on enhancing the use of overlays in vMix by proposing a separation and organization of overlay usage across Mix inputs. This adjustment could streamline workflows, allowing each Mix input to have customized overlay configurations and improving scene transitions and layouts.
Current Situation:
Currently, I can use overlays 1 through 4 across Mixes 1 to 16. However, when overlay 1 is activated in Mix 1 and subsequently activated in Mix 2, it stops displaying in Mix 1.
Suggestion:
I propose an independent overlay management feature, where using overlay 1 in Mix 1 would not impact its use in Mixes 2, 3, 4, etc. This separation would enable overlays to be used independently in each Mix, greatly enhancing production flexibility.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I am open to discussions and feedback to further explore and refine this idea.

This makes a lot of sense.
If I'd have tried it, I'd have reported it as a bug. I'm still not entirely sure that it's not.
While I understand why it may behave like that from a logistical perspective, especially with how the 4 Overlay channels have historically worked, if they're being opened up to all 16 Mixes, they should be completely independent of one another.

Hi,
Please note we are not accepting feature requests here, use the Feature Requests forum, as vMix 28 is a lock and no new features will be added (other than small tweaks, which this is not).
Regarding the overlays, there are only 4 overlay channels total, so this is the same behavior as without the mixes, if you try to enable Overlay 1 when it is already active, it will just move to where you have enabled it.
Regards,
Martin vMix
