Hello,
We like to create a basic preset (with main inputs like cameras, logo, backgrounds) and then just duplicate it by copy&paste a folder and have a new preset where we just replace the files (logo, backgrounds etc).
So, it will be very useful if there will be relative paths instead of absolute paths for files used by inputs.
What do you think ?
Thank you,

Is this not already possible if you load your images into pre-assigned folders in your preset? Then changing the contents of the folder will give you different graphics for your preset. Or am I mis-understanding something?

I'll try to be more clear.
I make folder "basic" containing image "logo.png"
Then I copy the folder(containing the preset and the image) and name it "preset1" Also I copy another folder and name it "preset2"
From my tests it seems like the preset in "preset1" folder will look for the "logo.png" into the original "basic" folder instead of its own folder .
Isn't it like that?

I think ClementN has a good point, and asks for a feature that I find useful.
If I understand it right all vMix's file references to material (videos, images, graphic folders, etc) are absolute. This has to be considered for backwards compatibility if one would also be able to use relative paths.
A tentative idea would be to add "Work folder" as a new Setting section below "Options", or perhaps as a part of the "Options" section.
This section could offer one of two modes:
Use absolute paths (Default, full path file name referencing) Use relative paths (and a field for the "Work folder" where the path should start)
In addition i strikes me that a supplementary feature for missing files might come in handy.
File missing when absolute paths are used: Instead of giving an error, ask the user to find the file (or skip)
When relative paths are used: First ask the user to re-specify the Work folder, and then try finding file there. If the file is still not found, ask the user to find the file (or skip).
In both cases, if the user selects "skip", then create the input us Offline (upcoming feature in v13).
Could this work, and solve ClementN's need?

Thank you, Richard.
I think your way of implementation should work very well.
Our basic need is to be able to easily duplicate a preset ( graphics, titles, intros, triggers) and customize them just by changing the files within the preset folder.
I think this should be useful for anyone as there is always a need for a logo, a title and some basic automation for a show (like start recording then the intro and add the logo).
That way, some can even start a business selling complete "preset templates".

I have the same beasic need. My current fix is to use Photos inputs (which points to a folder) for all the graphics, and then replace the files in that folder for each production. After that there is some tweaking to select which "photo" should be used in which Input module. Cumbersome, but at least I don't have to rebuild the whole preset.

BTW I have noticed that when loading content using "Browse" the file explorer seems to start with the last folder used by vMix, not the logical folder for content loading.
For example - I add a Video input, and load a file by browsing to \desktop\videos - I save the Preset into \desktop\presets - I add a video input, start loading a file via "Browse" and vMix opens \desktop\presets
Here it would have been more logical if the browser had started in \desktop\videos That is, logical to what one is trying to open. Same thing applies if working with Images, which typically should start in the last folder from which an image was loaded. And so on.
Any thoughts?

Relative paths would make it easy to have a Preset/Template folder structure with vids, pics and so on, lower thirds, etc, and then duplicate this for a new job - it would be a nice time saver.
