I would like to suggest an addition to vMix. I'm not sure why this has not been already implemented, but the idea is to provide more intuitive camera controls directly within the Preview and/or Program windows - like so:

vmix_interface_ptz.png (68kb) downloaded 2 time(s).

(The camera controls were borrowed from the NDI Tools app (Studio Monitor feature) and used only as the simplest of examples for a layout suggestion.)

Being able to have camera controls on the Preview and/or Program windows will help with faster, smoother workflows. It would be practical to provide options to enable/disable camera controls for the Preview and Program windows individually by providing this option above each window, respectively (instead of having to go through Settings windows - which is not intuitive or user-friendly). If the user wishes, they can have camera controls only for, say, the Preview window, while disabling it for the Program window, or vice-versa. Or the user can choose to enable for both or disable for both.

It would also be practical for the camera controls to be resizable, mobile, and customizable (providing options for the end-user to apply any color/alpha combination for the controls and background so the camera controls can be personalized for any type of studio/broadcast scenario.

There could also be an option to have the camera controls as a floating panel with camera switch buttons as an additional option, independent of the Preview or Program windows or the main vMix window entirely (with the same user-customization).

Having to access camera controls by going into a camera Settings window which locks you out of everything else is cumbersome, un-intuitive, and slow. (And incredibly frustrating). Having camera controls visible and readily accessible to the end-user would provide much needed simplicity and manageability functions to vMix.

Thank you for your time and consideration of these ideas. I hope we can see them implemented into upcoming vMix updates. vMix is a great app, but needs a little UI love to make it truly great.

Cheers!

+1 ! Love the idea to float the panels we need available during a stream.

+1 This would be very helpful and appreciated. I often use an independent PTZ camera controller (hardware) but sometimes at client sites I'm using their PTZ cameras and for various reasons am unable or prefer not to connect my controller to their network. This would make those scenarios much easier and smoother.

+1000 I also requested an NDI protocol in the PTZ dropdown. Some cameras support NDI but not visca or any other ip based. This two would round up vMix a lot.
