Hi All,

Tried to install latest update, 27.0.0.86, and got Error Replacing File VCMWrapper.dll, DeleteFile failed; code 5

2024-10-26 21_54_53-Error.png (16kb) downloaded 1 time(s). (Sorry about huge image size. I don't know how to resize the screenshot.)

Tried to install from within VMix and after shutting it down as Admin and after downloading the update again from https://www.vmix.com/software/download.aspx but without any luck.

When I open VMix, there are no title cards available.

Appreciate any help.

SOLVED: Uninstalled and reinstalled. Made sure to save preset files first in different folders.

This seems to have started recently. They need to fix this. For years it worked seamlessly.

Hi,

This error is caused by some problem application on the computer refusing to close, that is using vMix files for some reason.
Restarting the computer and making sure all applications are closed before installing vMix will usually solve this.

The vMix installer does actually try to close these applications automatically, however if the Windows install is faulty in some way, or the user skips
that confirmation to close, then this error might result.

This is nothing to do with vMix, and may even be worth a clean reinstall of Windows if this happens a lot, as it can indicate something is not right in Windows.

An application cannot always close other processes, and the process using a specific file might have been started during OS loading.
It seems that with ProcessExplorer, you can find which application is using the specific DLL through the search function.

In the past, during a vmix update, I had to close Skype :D
