I normally use external output for venue led screen/projection screen. Only straight cut is available now. It's not always the most stylish way to switch between sources.
For next Vmix update i hope if you could add transitions for shortcut switching outputs (set fullscreen output and set external output)

Now only way to do it is with mix input and changing preview for it. After that you have to push another button (fade)
Easiest way would be one click with stream deck (set external 2 output with fade)

I know many other users also hope this feature but i have to remind about this :)

I can't follow your limitations. Usually the external 1-4 are linked to outputs 1-4. Whatever you do on the outputs will be rendered via the capture card. You can have all sorts of transitions with it.
In order to do two actions with one shortcut add the same shortcut and add another action (the shortcut will turn red in the UI but still functioning). This way you can press one button on your stream deck and trigger both actions at the same time.
The same can be done with companion

Outputs are used for streaming and vmixcall return feeds. That's why we have to use (set external output/fullscreen output) command for switching source of venue screen output.
There should be option for transitions. Using mix input assigned to external output is only way i have found to do it.

With the newer additions you get a lot of mini mixes. You have four outputs. That is a lot of flexibility. You can create shortcuts for mix transitions. Mix 1 is the main mix. All others will count up.
