I am using IRL Pro, it is free app build on Larix Broadcaster SDK. Sending srt cam from phone to OBS works but on vmix wont work on same settings.

Why don't you give us more information

H264 of HVEC?
Local or remote
caller, listerner or rendevous
other settings
if it phone model related why would it work in OBS and not vMix ?

"SRT wont work" isnt cutting it

Ok I will try my best. After I changed ISP I can not do port forward any more with new router because my new ISP do not allow port forwarding on dynamic IP. So I installed OpenVPN on my dedicated server and use it on phones and PC. It works very well.

On phone there is IRL Pro installed and I use it in two ways.
1. Locally
2. Remote via OpenVPN

In both cases same results with all phones: Only S21U works on vMix.

In IRL Pro settings like this
srt://192.165.1.6:1002 for local connection without vpn, and
srt://10.8.0.3:1002 for remote (this IP is assigned as local address by OpenVPN)

PHONE set as CALLER
PC set as LISTENER
Latency 2500

Format is by default set to AUTO, but...if I set it to H264 every phone works, if it is on HEVC no one works. I think somehow AUTO on s21u know that it must be H264. Will check more and come back with update.

Yes, SRT/HEVC don't work on vMix.

Yes it does. Your phone might not !!!

Might want to check the adaptive bitrate streaming mode within IRL pro. My older phone had To be set to legacy for example.

Hi,

just for other people who find this thread:

HEVC is a bit of an issue. Since SRT ist just a "data pipe" with no codecs attached, you need to know both sender and receiver to get the codec settings right.

As you said, some older phones do not support HEVC - simply because there is no hardware support for it in their video subsystems (both H.264 and HEVC run in hardware on phones, otherwise the battery would last only minutes with the CPU doing video codecs...).

On Windows this is a bit different. I am note quite sure, but it looks like vMix uses the video codecs installed on the copy of Windows it runs on - at least for decoding. However, since vMix also uses FFMPEG with lots of codecs, it is a bit unclear what codecs are used when.

A standard Windows does not include the HEVC codec, you need to buy it from the Microsoft store for 0,99$ (sic!).

If you install the HEVC codec on Windows, restart vMix and stream from a newer phone supporting HEVC, things should work.

Good luck,

Christian
