We stream our church services through vMix and simultaneously record them to mp4. The mp4 files end up over 6GB in size, which takes a considerable amount of time to then upload to youtube. To solve that, we run the files through a post processor that rerenders them to a smaller size, while keeping them at the original 1080p, 29.97 fps. Often this reduces the file size by up to 90%.
I'm wondering if there are settings in vMix we might use to reduce the size of the original video file it produces so that we don't have to take this 2nd step of rerendering using a different tool?

A bit more info would be helpfull. How long does the service last do you use the recorder or the multicorder or.. What are your recorder settings (bitrate, profile,..)?

A service is normally one hour, give or take 10 minutes.
We're just using the normal Record feature.
MP4 Size - 1920x1080 Frame Rate - NTSC 29.97p Bit Rate - 16 MPS Profile H264Baseline, Hardware Encoder (checked), Fault Tolerant (unchecked) Audio - Master Audio Delay - 0 ms Audio Bit Rate - 128 kbps New File Every - None minutes
File output sizes vary from 6.3 to 8.9 GB.
Last Sunday's service came out at 6.6 GB. I run then ran it through a 3rd party tool (Reaper) that re-rendered it down to 765 MB.
I hope that's helpful information

The quality is reasonable at this size. Here's the approximate halfway point. video looks good. audio is fine.

We'll run some quality experiments at the lower bitrate. It might clear up our problem.
