hi,

i'm looking to set up a pc replay for 8 x 1080p50 cams, at low cost

no streaming, no overlays, just monitoring replay for referee

there will be 32gb DDR3 or DDR4 ram

and 2 x ssd m.2 4 x 4.0 (1 for windows and 1 for record)

record replay input in 150 mbps

but cpu / gpu components ?

i find vmix recommendations quite high,

but I suppose it was to do everything this required config

no need 18 cores for just replay !

I'm thinking of getting a i9 9900 or Ryzen 7 3700X (8 cores/16 threads) and NVIDIA T1000 or RTX 3060 (8GB GDDR6)

cpu or gpu is most used for just replay ?

you think that will be enough

if any of you are already using a dedicated 8 cams HD replay system or other, what is your config and what percentage is used by cpu and gpu in vmix?

thanks

Having used replay (6 cams, 1080p50) for several years on a powerful laptop that was barely powerful enough,
I'm really happy now using a 'real' desktop PC.
The second hand market is your friend ;-)

Intel i9 10980XE with Nvidia 3090, 4x16 GB ram, Eur 1.600.
Lots of PCI lanes for capture cards.
We now use it for 8 camera replay (1080p50) and it handles it easily.
A desktop 3080 Ti should also be fine.

Don't buy hardware that is just enough, it will have unpredictable issues.
You may experience dropped frames, audio glitches, blank replay events, GUI freezing.
Plus take some future growth into account, e.g. adding more replay angles (captured or via NDI).
Do not use a laptop if you want affordable performance.

Make sure the motherboard supports resizable BAR (bios update for X299 motherboards).

what was the laptop configuration ? thunderbolt and pcie enclosure for capture cards ?
that was barely powerful enough for just replay or for complete production ?
