Hi,

Akai just launched a new version of the APC mini. A bit bigger and with more colors.

It is working fine with Vmix shortcuts, but due to more colors activators are not working properly (green is not working, yellow is now red, blinking red is purple, etc.).

So, please add support for the new Akai APC mini MKII

Akai has also relaunched the APC 40 with more colors...

Thanks
Henrik

I found a solution: Just choose the Akai APC 40 MKII LED colours and you can use all RGB colours. An other solution ist to edit the activator colour in the preset file by a text editor (was my first solution).

So no update needed!

Hi Henrik!

That was very useful, unfortunely the APC Mini is being discontinued (or about to be) and the closest controller we have available is the MK2 model.

OBS: Is not ideal, but in order to use the activators on the buttons we had to change the controller page to "Drums" (using "Shift" + "Drums" on the controller). It gives full brightness on any color you choose, but doing this we loose the ability to change "pages" (not my case tho).
I hope we can see soon an update to use the full potential of this controller, and Akai made available a documentation on how to implement the new color scheme. The shortcuts will not be affected if you change from MK1 to MK2, but to use the activators in full brightness, you have to use only one page, and change the buttons from CH1 to CH10.

Cheers from Brazil!

Hey guys thank you for posting your findings. I have been following the posts and they have been quite helpful. Anyone knows how to make the new controller blink or pulse.?

Hi!

anybody tried to edit the akai.xml file in Activators folder and add an entry for example, <activatorType displayName="AKAI APC MINI MKII">

then copy the contents of <activatorType displayName="AKAI APC40 MKII LED">

Code:
<activatorType displayName="AKAI APC40 MKII LED">
<activatorValue displayName="" maximum="1" range="false" displayColor="#1E1E1E"/>
<activatorValue displayName="" maximum="2" range="false" displayColor="#7F7F7F"/>
<activatorValue displayName="" maximum="3" range="false" displayColor="#FFFFFF"/>
...

example:
Code:
<activatorType displayName="AKAI APC MINI MKII">
<activatorValue displayName="" maximum="1" range="false" displayColor="#1E1E1E"/>
<activatorValue displayName="" maximum="2" range="false" displayColor="#7F7F7F"/>
<activatorValue displayName="" maximum="3" range="false" displayColor="#FFFFFF"/>
...

let me know if it works for you

Thanks: 1 times

I would kindly ask vMix to add support for this unit. First version of AKAI APC Mini is not available on the market anymore. Current version (MKII) is very similar but some support needed because of more colours.

Midi channel workaround works for setting the brigthness and others. But colour setting are not the same as Akai APC 40 MKII. Some of them yes and others are not.

So please don't let die the support of this midi controller.

akaiMK2.zip (2kb) downloaded 31 time(s).Here are all the colors. However, enough is enough - it's hard to select the same shade of green twice :) So it's better to strip the list to only, let's say, 16 colors. You can edit the file in Notepad.

And remember to select channel 6 to get 100% brightness.

I have an akai apc mini mk2. It works to set the button lights if i chouse "akai apc 40" to set different colores, and with help from here i find to set bridness (thanks to bonbondotcom).

But if i set an activator i.e. button 56 (top left) to be green if Input 1 is in preview it works only so far. If i set any other Input to preview it shut tur the button back to default but it failt. The button is still green until i go setup/activator and call the definition of this button or the default setting and press OK.

Whats wrong? PEBKAC?

I use vVix 4k 26.0.0.45 x64 on windows 11.

I'd suggest to start by setting a default colour state for all your cut and preview buttons (this can be done using a range in the activator setup, ie. Note 72 to Note 77)

After that, set a condition for Preview Input and for DirectCut buttons individually.

This should solve your problem
