Hi there,

I have a panel discussion coming up involving 7 speakers. What i want to achieve is a layout where each speaker is shown on screen. 6 of the speaker PIP windows will be the same size, but the 7th window will be larger. This window will be the speaker who is currently talking.

I want to use merge to allow the windows to ‘swap’ positions, so the presenter windows can seamlessly swap, so that it does not mattet which order they speak. The current speaker will swap positions with the speaker who next speaks.

I have attempted this with creating multiple virtual sets, but of course as i get further on, the layout swaps get more conplex and ends up looking messy.

Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Chris

I think you need a script to make that work simple.....I think you may find a script in Streaming Alchemy...Think I saw it there, and you can download the script, and adjust it for your needs .....

What I did the last time I had a similar job, is to create an multi-layer input for all the speakers with the layout for who will be the speaker larger, and as I set it up, I gave each layout the name of the person who will be speaking, so that I could locate them easy, and did a straight cut to that input.....but, I used PanelBuilder as my switcher, and named the buttons to correspond to the speakers, and that was much faster for me..... All I did was to make one layout, and created the others as Virtual Inputs, and for each speaker I just swapped out one of the layers, and I had all my speakers in their own input as Multi-Layered inputs, I used Merge and the magic begins...I used a fast speed yo make it look better......That is my way, and it worked great, quick setup...I used a blurred coloured background, and that is where I created my Multi-Layer. In this way, I can keep using the multi layer inputs or I could also switch back and forth with a full view of the speaker ...Hope I was of help....

I imagine you are experiencing the messy look when merging due to the layout and the fact that when swapping the layer index position is important for a clean merge
While your idea with multiple multiviews is goo a reordering of the layer is in order for a nice effect

While swapping inputs ( in the layers) is very feasable with scripting it becomes more complex to get it properly done doing it with the merge effect (animated effect)

Not use if the "animated"merge effect while looking fancy is really appropriate. Having each none focused speaker basicaly changing location might be confusing (or look messy)
