Hello. Are you planning to increase the recording buffer??? For the HD format it was enough, but switching to 4k there was very little of it. Even despite the raid, the array of 2 sources + the master can still cope, but with a large number of sources the buffer is very small and the video turns out to be friezes. In any case, the available recording buffer is too small for the 4k format.

Ask in the vMix 27 beta forum. More likely to get their attention there and more likely to get a fix BEFORE v28 there as well.

I really hoped that the developers themselves would understand this! Before 2024, save a recording buffer of only 400 megabytes! 400 MEGABYTES is nothing today! The average PC has 16-32 gigabytes of RAM and such a small buffer only makes you laugh. In TV broadcasting applications, the read buffer can be configured to 8 gigabytes. Adobe applications work smoothly even with 128 gigabytes... and so on. And here we completely missed the point. Yes, now you can write that you are switching to an SSD - but it’s not at that level yet. I have raid 5 on 4 8 terabyte disks because... In addition to the recording, working material is stored for some time and the SSD is smoked on the sidelines.

Sometimes we all need to be reminded to review previous assumptions.

Hi, If you are seeing an issue of dropped frames due to 4K, it is likely due to a CPU or Disk issue and nothing to do with the recording buffer. The recording buffer default in vMix is more than sufficient and will work just fine if you follow the recommended system requirements on our web site: https://www.vmix.com/pro...x-reference-systems.aspxIncreasing the recording buffer just moves the issue elsewhere and is not a panacea to solving performance issues. Regards, Martin vMix

Regards, Martin vMix ha-ha-ha.. answers at the corporate level... it’s not us who are crooked, but your hardware is rubbish! Indeed... why do many developers create a read and/or write buffer... why do systems have a system cache??? GUYS don't need all this - make corporations richer by buying expensive hardware! But oh.. no and it doesn’t work on it - ah-ay.. probably it was not assembled correctly or the performance test was not carried out on the bench... ahh... and you didn’t buy the card directly from the Nvidia factory, but in a store??? - no, you need it from the factory and then everything will work! All this is cheap nonsense! The buffer must compensate for the moment of peak (inevitable) plugging. Even in HD format without a buffer or with a minimal buffer, there are freezes during single-disc recording. Basic mathematics - now the buffer is 400 megabytes for HD 50 frames - 2 seconds of buffer... absolutely nothing, but at the right moment they save the situation. Now 4k... 400 megabytes for 4k is about 12 frames... 0.5 seconds - oh, that's NOTHING AT ALL. And in general, even using such a buffer value at the end of 2023... so kill it altogether and forget it or bring it to mind! But no... it's easier to write that your PC is trash. Maybe the developer forgot about multitasking his system??? And situations can be very different... and perhaps the system loses this property??? And soon you will need to use vMix separately for recording and separately for playback???

Unfortunately what you have stated is completely false and represents a misunderstanding with how vMix works internally and how hardware interacts with software in a live production environment. If increasing buffers were a magical fix for performance issues we would have done it years ago. I am now locking this thread, as it is not constructive at all. If you do need assistance from us to help diagnose any performance issues you may be experiencing, please reach out to support and they can help further: https://www.vmix.com/contact-us.aspx
