There are two new features regarding file names for recordings that I would like to see.
1. A settings option for "Confirm/Edit file name when recorder starts" (or stops). When the recorder is started (or stopped), and this option unchecked, saving is just performed as it is today. When checked, the user can edit the file name before save.
2. Add the parameter "File name" to Shortcut StartRecording (or StopRecording). Alternatively, add a new Shortcut SetRecordingFilename, with the file name as a parameter. (The latter propably require changes to the Recorder's setting, see below).
Then there are some current behaviors (14.0.0.110) that is confusing, and/or buggy. OR, I might be misunderstanding the whole thing ;)
In Settings/Recording one must specify a Default Folder for Recordings, which is fine. But this setting is not propagated to the "Filename" field for AVI, MPEG-2, WMV, and MP4 in the Recording setup (via coq wheel button). Furthermore, this field must contain a "root directory or a drive letter". Rather confusing as a default folder must be specified. In addition, why not move the "File name" field to the Settings/Recorder tab? (File name extension would be automatically set depending on the recording format).
I also think that it should be possible to leave the field for "File name format" blank. (Perhaps "File name formatting" is a better description).
Thanks.

Thanks. I'll bump this very old topic in order to get attention on this missing feature. Doubting if the +1 system works in this case, but still a very desirable feature request.
