We have a podcast that goes out live on Facebook and Twitter but we also want to put out a live audio version. I know there are many way to use 3rd party software to rout audio and use a shoutcast encoder to do the job but that's at the cost of running other software on our system and also we tried that and totally forgot to disconnect the audio stream. That didn't go down well. We are looking for a way that when we hit stream in vmix it starts the audio stream and also when we hit stop stream it does stop it, there for cutting any 3rd party attention needed. Is there any way of doing this or is it just wishful thinking?

Thanks

There are ways to not need to remember to kill the third party software/audio stream.

If the program allows you to start and stop the stream with MIDI, you can control it with a Stream activator within vMix by way of something like loopMIDI.

That way, you don’t have to worry about manually starting or stopping it—vMix will do it when you start and stop your vMix stream.

I know that’s not as good as doing it entirely within vMix, but if you aren’t able to add your server to the vMix stream functionality, a third party program is your only option at the moment & mitigating mistakes is the best you can do.
