This AKAI APC Mini is lovely and functional, but I'm getting a little lost in the bare keys. Does anyone have any proven way to label the keys, or a site that is able to provide a skin that I could customize? Or a custom "keyboard" cover that can be printed on?
Than you,
Chad

I bought adhesive labels. Not so aesthetic but they work.

They are sheets with precutted labels in different size and th glue is quite strong (but you can remove them if you want).

I bought clear 8 x11 labels, printed a sheet with all the words I needed in a size that works. Then I cut them out and placed them on the APCmini. Works like a charm. I just wish someone made a skin that would go over the unit where you could place the labels so that I could use this for multiple software packages.
As it is I use my APCmini for my DAW but might want to buy another for vMix.

I just found this website, where they let you design a skin for the Akai APC mini. https://www.styleflip.co...ai-apc-mini-custom-skinsI'm going to explore the site a bit more after I've finished my current client project, but this looks promising! EDIT: It seems it's only meant for the space AROUND the buttons (The white area in the graphical representation). That means that you could label the round buttons to the right, and the sliders at the bottom, but NOT the individual buttons in the grid. You could also put text over the top row of the button-grid. And you could totally do some colored zoning, which would make the 8x8 button-grid a lot easier to navigate. APC mini skin.png (257kb) downloaded 11 time(s).

Do-It-Yourself Overlay for Akai & Novation Controllers. 1. Create an accurate template of the button locations & sizes in an A4 document. 2. Print A4 Word document to an Avery A4 White Shipping Label. 3. Overlay the A4 Shipping Label with an A4 Laminated Clear Sheet. 4. Size & cut the laminate A4 sheet to fit the control surface you wish to overlay. 5. Use double-sided foam adhesive tape (2-3 mm thick) to bind the Overlay Sheet to the controller along the left & right edges of the device, or any device edges that are suitable. Below is shown the Novation LaunchPad with an Overlay Template for use with the older version of vMix from some years ago. Worked well with no problems.

^ That's a nice solution! Do the lights shine through the labels?
I use a Brother P-Touch labelmaker. 8mm tape is best, but 12mm is fine too, but then I usually trim those with scissors. I use black ink on clear tape for the buttons, and black ink on white tape to below certain buttons.
I find the labels usually stick pretty well, but it's best of you clean each button with a little alcohol wipe prior to sticking to get the finger grease off the buttons.

The best way to make a skin for the APCmini would be something where you temporarily remove the top of the APC mini and the skin would fit over the buttons but underneath the top. The top would hold the skin in place without any adhesive needed. But that would require that somebody make such a skin.
