Are there any special considerations for achieving high availability of the vMix system when running on AWS EC2 Windows instances? Normally I'd create a load balancer and Autoscaling Group, but wonder if anyone has other suggestions. A related question is how long does it typically take upon spinning up a new instance for vMix to be up and running?

Thanks

you can use a load-balancer between 2 vmix instances in 2 AZ's, but you would need to consider added costs of live streams, and if your streams will pass nicely through an ELB (SRT?, NDI?). That needs to be tested. You could also use a shared storage (like fsx for windows) for any assets you might have, recordings, graphics, and also configuration.

It won't be seamless, but you could potentially switch over pretty fast.

How is the vMix license tied to hardware? Is it based on the primary IP Address or on something else?
What I'm trying to get at is I run vMix on an AWS EC2 instance and suspend then resume the instance (preserving the eth0 address) is the license still valid?

That I don't know, it's probably not the IP, but some mix of the HW reported to windows.

From my experience, if you turn the EC2 off and on, the license stays. (stop, not terminate)
But if you change the instance size\family type, you lose the license and need to re-license.
