I have an slight video delay going out to 2 70" TV's in our sanctuary. I will try and explain the best I can and give you settings.

I bring the audio into vMix using Audio Input from our church mixer and one of the Aux Sends. Its coming into the computer with Blackmagic Intensity Pro Card. That works great.

I bring our video camera into vMix using a HDMI cable (10ft long) also through a BlackMagic Intensity Pro card. I have 5 BMIP cards installed in this system.

I output the external output with HDMI cable coming out of the output of a BMIP card and into a HDMI splitter.

The splitter sends the signal out to TVs using 1 cat6 cable and then converts it back to HDMI at the TV. The Spitter is a the following:

http://www.monoprice.com...3&seq=1&format=2

Setting Tab:
External Output Settings:
Frame Rate NTSC 59.94i or 29.97p - NTSC 59.94i or 29.97p
Output Size: 1920x1080 1920x1080
Device Decklink Video Render(2)
Port: HDMI
Audio Device: Decklink Audio Render (2)
Audio Delay: o

My problem. The video signal is getting to the main TVs in the Sactuary half to full second late. Audio instant since its in the sanctuary speakers from.

Can this be fixed or is it becasuse its traveling 100' through the cat6? I spent the extra money on the splitter because it said it will work up to 100meters. Any input would be great. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

The blackmagic cards have a significant amount of delay when used as an output.
For the lowest delay, use the second graphics card output instead.

Are you using the second output from the same graphics card?
Double check to make sure nothing is being plugged into the motherboard graphics ports.

Few things to check:

1. Make sure you are running windows in aero mode if using Windows 7.
2. Update the graphics card drivers to latest version.
3. Make sure both graphics card outputs are set to a similar resolution if possible.
4. Report back here the Render Time in vMix when using multiple outputs.
5. Try disabling onboard graphics in the BIOS.
6. What resolution and frame rate is selected in vMix settings?

Martin

Martin, to clarify, you are wanting me to come out of my second monitor on my graphics card? It is DVI out and not HDMI.

Yes, the DVI out should work. A DVI to HDMI adapter can be found cheaply from places like eBay.

My problem is going to be is the audio. I'm also sending video/audio to 3 other TV's through out the church via external out with the HDMI that sends both audio and video. If I output external out through second monitor I will loose my audio the splitter.

vMix has the ability to be an excellent tool for churches and houses of worship. Unfortunately, it needs a lot of careful configuration and hardware selection to make it usable.

This is my system layout right now:

UserPostedImage

Some of the TVs are over 100 feet away. At 1080i/60, I'm getting a total delay of 70 ms between the camera and the TVs if I bypass vMix (red path), and 140 ms if I go through vMix (green path). Most of the additional delay in the vMix path is due to the video capture device, so vMix and its output are a very small factor.

The equipment I'm currently using is:
Camera: Sony HVR-V1U
Video capture: AVerMedia ExtremeCap U3
PC: i7-4770 / GeForce GTX 660 / 8 GB RAM
SD card recorder: AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable
HDMI splitters: cheap Sewell splitters from Amazon
HDMI switch: IOGear AVIOR GHSW8141
SDI splitter: Matrix Switch MAHDD16
HDMI to SDI converter: Lenkeng LKV389 (US$125)
SDI to HDMI converters: Lenkeng LKV368 (US$45 each)
Camera remote control: Bescor MP-101 + Expedition Electrics USB Pan Tilt LANC Controller + Logitech F310
vMix remote: Raspberry Pi + Python Script + wireless numeric keypad

vMix output is through the HDMI secondary output on the video card and the Fullscreen feature of vMix.

Our sound is sent to the ceiling speakers directly from the audio mixer, so it's not in sync with the video. But 140 ms is barely noticeable, and I'm mostly happy with it.

I haven't been able to get the same results with 1080p/60 because the cameras I've tried have added at least 60 ms more delay, which becomes very noticeable. And in the process, I've learned that many devices along the path can introduce delay.

It would be good to have hardware recommendations for a vMix live production system that keeps latency as an important focus. I can add my own experiences, but it needs input from others too.

Please, I am using Full-screen Output and I am having half a second delay, I have upgraded the graphics card to 1060ti and it is still.

I wanted to find out if Graphics Card can cause such delay.

It will be greatful if anyone can give any advise that could solve this problem.

AB

Did anyone find a solution to the delay coming out of vMix when going live to a projector or screen? I'm also seeing about a half second delay. I'm coming out a Blackmagic Decklink card to the projector directly. I've seen where Martin suggested going from the HDMI of your video graphics card to the projector which I'll try next. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

On VidBlasterX there is a low latency mode for Decklink cards which brings the delay down to about a frame. (Plus whatever distance delay you get because of cables and decoding time on the end, of course) This does remove audio, though, but it's good for studio floor monitors and the like. I'm not sure if VMIX has something similiar.
