Looking for any advice & ways to improve workflow.

I've experienced this issue with two clients recently. Both claim to be using "the latest" iPad (5th gen) but because they're in other parts of the world I haven't had my hands on the devices myself. As far as I can tell there's nothing in the documentation indicating that these devices aren't compatible, but correct me if I'm wrong.

In both cases, the iPad will connect to vMix Call and video will come through but:
  • the bitrate is always extremely low, ~250kbps
  • the resolution is always stuck on 1280x720
  • the video often freezes for long periods before catching up

I've verified that both clients are loading vMix call in Safari.

In both scenarios we've tried a number of troubleshooting steps:
  • using the standard vmixcall.com login
  • using advanced.vmixcall.com
  • requesting the desktop site instead of the mobile site
  • adjusting Remote Guest Video Bandwidth in vMix
  • attempting with "only direct peer to peer" enabled and disabled
  • connect to a wifi network
  • connected via ethernet dongle
  • connected to a mobile hotspot

In all cases the experience has been the same on both iPads: 1280x720 at ~250-400kbps
Edit to add: I'm using vmix version 25.0.0.29

On the same network/location other devices work fine. We've tested on iPhones, Android, and computers from the same network. All are able to send a decent bitrate (~2000kbps) and adjust their resolution to the same vMix Call endpoint. Only the iPads are experiencing this issue.

If there's something wrong in my workflow or a better, more reliable way to connect in an iPad I'd love to hear it.

If you just need the feed in have a look at SRT. Larix broadcaster is a nice app.

We need 2-way video, that's why we're using vMix Call. And most of our users need an extremely simple click-to-connect solution so a 3rd party app they have to configure isn't a good solution.

I'll switch to Skype or Zoom and use their NDI integration if vMix Call continues to be an unreliable solution.

Medialooks VT could be an option if you don't mind use a paid version.
