I have a question about how to capture audio with descktop vMix capture. Using two screens to use vMix and one run a game or application that generates audio, captured with the option to capture desktop but, and here comes the problem or doubt, if I point the option to capture audio, sound application sounds good, but also captures the sound of the microphone I'm using and it echoes because I have an input audio capture set to vMix with the microphone I use in retransmissions and if I point out that I want to capture the audio can be heard application.

Am I doing something wrong? Did not understand the audio settings?

Thanks a lot!

I think I understand that you are running a game (or an application) that generates audio, for example music. You want to capture that game, including the audio.

But I do not understand what do you want to do with the microphone?

Comment the game in the recording/stream (retransmission?) as it is being generated by vMix?
or
Talk with other gamers in the game, but not have the talk recorded/streamed?
or
something else?

Hi and thanks! Yes, we use vMix for games rettransmitions with live comments, we use racing simulators like, iracing, rfactor, F12013 of codemasters, gt6, etc...

Sorry, I understood that I wondered if the sound is generated Vmix ...

Start again, hopefully better explain this time, thanks for your patience.

Well, we perform retransmissions car racing simulators I mentioned in the previous post, to make it create a new entry audio capture and point the microphone we have set up, so normal, if using application vMix " Desktop Capture "to capture the game pointed out the "audio capture", the program gives me an echo because it captures not only the sound of the game, also capture the sound of the microphone and it binds to the capture of the entry was created for control the volume of the device.

I think the "Capture Desktop" application captures general audio which is produced in the computer you are capturing the screen, and this creates a conflict when the screen is being captured himself is the computer that runs vMix.

I'm still doing tests to determine if I say this is or not, if Martin read this maybe can get us to doubt whether or not you can confirm my suspicions. I know I can solve this if I did not capture the audio input, but then I lose control over the audio from microphone in vMix.

Thank you very much for reading this brick!

Greetings, Toni

In windows 7 you could mute vMix in the system mixer - right click the volume in the system tray, open Volume Mixer, scroll across to vMix, mute. It shouldn't affect the audio output when you stream or save to a file, or via an external card. That would prevent loops from vmix into the system audio. You wouldn't be able to monitor any audio in vMix, but it'd work.

The best solution is to run the game on a second PC, and use a capture card to bring the game audio/video in over HDMI, but I understand that's not always an option. :)

Thank you very much, had not thought of the possibility of mute vMix in the system, but do not quite understand which means you could not monitor audio vMix.

We have considered to capture the game from another pc, but at the moment is not feasible, we only have a capture card with one input only and use it for the camera, when we have more resources we will do that, so we avoid many problems

We'll try to fix the echo in this way.

Regards and thanks again, Toni.

I'm not sure the following helps, but maybe give you additional ways the fix your issue.
As I am looking into the OBS (using it for streaming) I found this passage about muting microphone
?t=10m25s

Also check out the last minute of the video, as it also discussed audio.

Good luck!
