Is there a way to use a remote cell phone as a source? Like outside the building across town on a cell network instead of the local network?
We are using Wirecast CAM on our iPhones to use cellphones connected to WiFi in the building, but when I have reporters on scene, I'd like to use their cell camera as a source.
Can't find an app for that.

Have you considered trying the Skype app, or something similar and using desktop capture?
Kind of a workaround solution, but it's the simplest and it works.

The problem is the delay. Tried using a Facebook Live session on a private page... Tried a YouTube stream... Tried Google Hangouts... Tried Livestream...
The average delay is 20 seconds. If I can get it down to 5, it would be usable.
I'll keep searching.

dnavarrojr, We did what you're trying to do a few years ago using Skype and Skype worked great for us. Watch our YouTube video below. This was a two laptop setup. vMix on one latptop, Skype brought in on second laptop via desktop capture. https://youtu.be/GhqgydMs8ys~George

You need to try Skype. It doesn't have the long delay like the others have.
The only delay is any delay in the network itself.

If it is connected to the same network (on the WiFi) as the vMix computer, and it is a Android Phone, you can try use the RTSP Camera Server app, which turns your cellphone cam+audio into a RTSP stream, which can be used as input in vMix. Sorry to necro such an old thread, but I can't for life of me get any app to work with this and actually give me video.
Vmix will only give me a green video feed. I opened it up in vlc and the video is fine. Is there a setting vmix I need to change to get rtsp video feeds to work? Is it some resolution/keyframe/bitrate/codec problem?

easiest way to get phone cam as input on vmix now is with vmixcall, or if you have iphone (i don't know if it has become vmixcall compatible in the meantime) I have successfully used appear.in as app on iphone and web browser input in vmix . quality depends on network and phone does become quite hot after 10 mins usage.

vMix Call works great on Androids using the up-to-date Chrome browser. Older versions of Chrome may not work.
vMix Call works great on iOS devices using iOS 11 or better and using the Safari browser.

There's ways of making your android an RTMP camera. I think this is a way of doing this -
Although I am certainly not the best person to ask.
But if vMix Call works w chrome - that's probably the best bet.. and a lot cleaner I imagine.

If vMix Call doesn't do it for you consider the following:
If you want to avoid delay look for apps that are more typically used for video calling/conferencing. That kind of real-time conversation is very sensitive to latency, so those apps & service are optimized for low delay.
If you have access to SIP infrastructure you can try the myriad of SIP soft phones that are video capable. I like Counterpath's Bria (commercial), Polycom's RealPresence Mobile (free, closed source) and Jitsi (open source.)
On Android you can also try WebRTC-based apps like Jitsi Meet.

#2 for Vmixcall - works fine for us, people dial in using that on iPads, and also the latest version of Safari on Sierra and high Sierra. Android also works well. Delays are fine, we get around .5sec

Probably a dumb question, but how do you use vmixcall on your phone? I couldn't find it on the Google Play Store (I have an android phone: the Pixel XL).

We do that all the time to cover live sport events (marathons, ultratrails, skyrunning, etc.)
- Android smartphone with "Broadcast Me" app (several other apps available as well)
- media server on the cloud to get the RTMP stream from smartphone
- vMix connects to the media server and receives the RTMP stream
Delay is in the range of 5 seconds, depends on the settings.

That is way too complicated and adds a lot of latency.
Download Larix Broadcaster App on Android or iOS and send an SRT stream directly into vMix. This is much more efficient and direct. You need to NAT/PAT the ports from your router to your vMix in order to get this running.
