Hey Folks,

still struggling with PCI-Lanes.

I need a streaming system which works well with a DeckLink Quad 2 with 8 SDI-Ports and a Decklink Duo 2 with 4 SDI-Ports. Can the z490 chipset handle this? Or do need to search for X299 hardware?

Thank you!

A Decklink Quad needs 8 lanes and a Duo needs 4 lanes. The ASUS Gamers Strix Z490H list 3 slots at 16 although I suspect it maybe 16x8x8 which would work for you. There may be other boards that have a similar configuration. X299 boards as far s I can tell are out of production as manufacturers are waiting on the new version of the board to be released (Z399 I think) so it is hard to come by any x299 boards from regular suppliers.

@Maximus

First of all, thanks for your reply to my question.

16x8x8 means 32 PCI-Lanes, when the Decklink Duo is just 4 Lanes we are talking about:

16 for Geforce
8 for the Decklink Quad 2
4 for the Decklink Duo 2

Means 28 PCI Lanes and the z490 chipset is limited to just 16 PCI-Lanes ?!

Even when the Geforce is just getting 8 Lanes i need 20 PCI-Lanes?

Thank you!

Hi - The Z490 has 24 PCIe Lanes and the CPU (10th Gen) has 16, so that should work. The Motherboard info will detail the PICe Configurations to utilise the lanes in various configurations. So if you use all the slots you may lose an M,2 slot or vice versa. The Strix motherboard I mentioned has 3x16 slots as per the specs, but I suspect it will be most likely 1x16, 1x8, 1x8 and if you use all 3 slots you may lose an m.2 slot
