I've found previous posts discussing how input latency is slightly different between AJA, Magewell, and BMD but how are things looking in 2022?

I'm putting together a system for IMAG right now and recent testing resulted in a 27ms (< 2 frames at 60fps) latency end-to-end (camera to LED wall).

Camera -> Hardware Switcher -> Decklink SDI 4K -> vMix -> HDMI to LED Processor

For the final build we're wanting to go with a DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G. Should I expect the same input latency as the Decklink SDI 4K?
Is it even worth testing an AJA card if I'm already getting such great performance?

So I actually checked my notes again and it's 47ms total. (I must have mis-remembered the number.)

We're in the process of replacing a system from ~2015 that is Pandora's Box 6 and has the exact same latency (down to the ms).
With the new system we're going genlock across the board (right now it's all framesync in our hub & switcher). We're even using a Quardo Sync II card to genlock the GPU to the house.

I'll report back with numbers once we have the whole thing installed but it may be 2-3 months.

Hi, I'm interesting for the same issue, can I ask more spec about hardware you used in the chain? In particular, you use any scaler between vmix and sending card? 47ms is really good in my opinion, about 2-3 frame at 60p... Camera, switcher, capture card and low latency sending/receiving card normally count more than 2 frame

thanks

A quick update on this:

We found that our original testing was flawed (in more than 1 way) and the actual latency on the system we were replacing was 9 frames at 59.94.

That chain was Hitachi HD6000 -> BMD Video Hub 40x40 -> ROSS Carbonite -> SDI Input card (don't know what brand/model) -> Win 7 Pandora's Box 5 -> GTX 980 -> Nova MCTRL660

We just got the new system installed and tested last week and the latency is now.... 9 frames. So no improvement but it's not any worse.

Chain is Hitachi HD6000 -> BMD Video Hub 40x40 -> ROSS Carbonite -> DeckLink 8K pro -> Win10 vMix 25 -> RTXA6000 -> MCTRL660
