Then the only chance I see is to add virtual inputs of that input (right click the cog buttom right of the input) and crop the virtual inputs to sections you want to have. Then combine these virtual inputs in layers to a whole again. Use that final input as the overlay.

Tried that, Color input, transparent and put the desktop capture on as a layer... same result... all what has to be transparent is black...

That is what I did in the past... this app should make it easier...

To get a generated overlay in a window in vMix, update to the latest version. In vMix v21, the issue may be resolved by updating the software. Once updated, you can add the overlay by selecting the desired media or graphic and placing it in the appropriate input or overlay channel.
