It's great to have vMix Social pull comments from the Zoom meeting. However pulling chat from the same meeting the speakers are in is of very limited value. To truly be useful, we need the ability to log Social into a different meeting from the one the panelists are logged into. Most of us doing vMix into Zoom productions stage the speakers in a separate meeting from the audience. We then push a vMix packaged feed into the audience session. The number one complaint about doing a vMix to Zoom production is that the speakers have no direct contact with the audience chat or QA. We have to resort to clunky work arounds. Social could solve this but the key is being able to log it into a different meeting/webinar than the one the speakers are staged in.

I understand there may be an issue with the SDK and being able to start to sessions on the same machine. I know Zoom is aware of this and hopefully a fix can be found.

Might it be possible to modify the Social app itself so that it can share data with other vMix instances? Perhaps even making Social a stand alone app? So you could run social separately from the main vMix production machine, connect it to Zoom from there, and share the data it collects with other vMix instances on the network?

That said, I love the fact that the vMix operator can read and enter chat to the speaekrs from the Zoom Call Manger window.

Thanks,

Greg

Unfortunately there appears to have been some miscommunication from Zoom.
The ability to run more than one meeting at a time on a system is not officially supported by Zoom at this time, so not something we can add to vMix.

If this changes in the future, then it is something we might be able to consider, but not for vMix 27.

Sorry about that.

Regards,

Martin

Thanks Martin. Is it possible vMix Social could be modified to share data to another instance of vMix? So you could run Social on a second machine and log into the audience session there? Then pull the data into the primary production system.

Thank you.

vMix Social does not have access to Zoom directly, it is just retrieving the data from the currently running Zoom meeting in vMix itself.

So you would need to run vMix on that secondary machine anyway, and thus send out the lower thirds from there over NDI.

Sending the lower thirds via NDI would require keying out the background on them, correct?

Thanks.

In vMix under Settings -> Outputs next to the NDI button there is a cog icon where you can enable Alpha Channel on the output.
