Martin,
All setting (cog wheel) buttons in the footer bar takes one directly to its function's settings, except External which leads to a drop-up choice of one - namely "Setting" (at least in Basic and HD). Is there a reason why the External cog wheel does not takes one to its setting?

In the Trial and 4K versions, there is another choice for "External 2" which sets the input source for the 2nd external output.

An update to vMix 14 Preview has been uploaded (14.0.0.71)

http://www.vmix.com.au/download/vmix14preview.exe

I've been away at IBC, so there are only a couple of small but important fixes/updates in this version.
As we move towards the final release at the end of this month I will now be updating the documentation to reflect the changes in 14.

* Mouse click action will set the Cut button to Prv for all actions other than Preview.
* Fixed issue with certain symbols in passwords when using CDNs such as ScaleEngine
* Fixed bug with SelectIndex shortcut for virtual sets
* Fixed bug with Solo indicator remaining on when removing input
* Onboard deinterlacing on Magewell cards is now automatically disabled
as vMix supports automatic deinterlacing internally.

FFMPEG Streaming Updates

* Added support for multi bitrate streaming with FFMPEG
* Added a "User Agent" option in the Streaming Advanced window
as some providers such as USTREAM require this to be set to "Wirecast"
in order for it to work correctly with Multi Bitrate.
* Supports up to three separate streaming providers if multiple bit rates are not needed.
To use this feature:
1. In the streaming window click the [..] button next to URL
2. Type in each URL one per line
3. In the streaming window click the [..] button next to Stream Key
4. Type in each Stream Key / Name one per line
5. Click the cog icon next to quality
6. Set the bit rates and sizes for each of these streams and check the boxes to enable them.
Usually, the bit rates and sizes will all be the same

* So far I have tested FFMPEG Streaming with USTREAM and Wowza (which many providers use). I would be interested in hearing feedback
on other providers users have been testing it with so I can add them to a supported list in the documentation.

Regards,

Martin

Also works fine to DaCast, both the Flash (Edgecast) streams and HTML5 (Akakmai).

Thanks Martin,

Now testing 14.0.0.72.

We have tried FFMPEG streaming to Solidtango for 4+ hours, works fine. And YouTube for about an hour, works fine too.

But our test with Bambuser did not go so well. vMix reports starting the stream, but Bambuser's control/player page does not show any stream, or that anything is live. Tried 2.5 and 1.5 mbps. Checked with their support that AAC is supported. Then tried streaming with v13, FMLE and Main concepts AAC plugin, works both with 1.5 mpbs 96 kb audio as well as 2.5 mbps and 128 kbps. (Sidenote, another strange thing with Bambuser is that when we v13 click "Stop" streaming, it takes about 20s (and vMix freezes) until the red stream light turns off (and vMix responds again).

If you would like to test Bambuser I can PM you our RTMP credentials. (I know the Bambuser team, and can assist you in getting in touch with them if you think an e-mail to support@bambuser.com is not sufficient).

Also, the v14 stream log windows just rolls away for FFMPEG streaming. Would be useful if one could scroll and/or copy the text or get a log file from the streaming session.

Cheers.

UPDATE: You might consider adding Bambuser and Solidtango to the predefined list of CDN:s. That would require a little bit of API handshaking, no big deal I guess...

Thanks for the report! I was able to sign up for a Bambuser account to test and solve the problem.
Fix below in vMix 14 Preview 14.0.0.78

http://www.vmix.com.au/download/vmix14preview.exe

Changes
* Fixed RTMP user agent issue with Bambuser and possibly other CDNs
* Fixed some interlaced field issues with SD MPEG-2 recordings
* Added waiting window when stopping streaming as FMLE can take a while to close
* After a fair amount of testing FFMPEG is ready for prime time, as a result I have moved the FMLE/FFMPEG
selection box to the Streaming Window so it can be selected on a per profile basis.

The help file has also been updated to vMix 14 and includes a lot of new information
on the Streaming feature and the differences between FMLE and FFMPEG.

http://www.vmix.com.au/help14/

This means vMix 14 is now only days away from final release. If no show stopping bugs
show up over the next few days, .78 will be the public release.

Regards,

Martin

Super!

I was blown away by the new feature to send to multiple streaming providers. Only had time to check with two, but they worked nicely.
Noticed that if I then removed one of the URL lines, keeping the two stream key lines, I could start the stream and got no warning. (never checked if any or both streams actually became live).

Perhaps too late for the upcoming release, but in the future it would be nice with a somewhat developed UI for multiple stream settings. Meanwhile, since the URL and stream key are specified in the lines windows, maybe the URL and the Stream key in the Streaming Settings window could display "Multiple" if that's the case. Would be a useful reminder/warning for the operator.

I think it also would be useful if the possibility to stream to multiple streaming providers was more clearly described in the help. Currently it is sort of hidden under the URL and Stream key sections in the "Multiple Bitrate Support" page.

Just tested the new v14 FFMPEG with my service provider, INACDN and it worked perfectly well.

But I was unable to send to multiple CDNs... using either the RTMP of the FFMPEG.

If you wish I can PM you my other RTMP link.

Well done Martin... God bless you.

See the help file here:
http://www.vmix.com.au/h...reamingMultiBitrate.html

You need two URLs and two keys. Enter them into the URL and Stream Key fields separated by a ; with no spaces.
Then the bit rates for each need to be checked and configured in the Quality settings.

Multiple bitrates are failing on DaCast using FFMPEG. If I drop back to one only it works. This happens on both the Edgecast and Akamai servers.

What settings are you using? Are you sending multi bitrate or separate streams?
Note with Akamai etc, multiple stream keys will need to be entered, separated by a ;

Just tested DaCast, you will need to download the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder XML and open it in something like notepad
to get the multi bitrate stream key as the other encoder methods don't support it.

The correct stream key will have a %i somewhere in the name.

Thanks.. Yes now working. Should have thought of that!

Another thing...not a bug, but Avast keeps trying to analyse FFMPEG.exe and hangs on it. I also have the same file installed with other applications and it does not display the same issues. My simple workaround is to turn off the virus scanner (which is what I normally do when streaming anyway)

There is something weird going on with the playback of videofiles i vMix14.

It does not handle *.MXF in 576i50 any good. The interlacing is all messed up when I output it via Decklink SDI to an SDI-monitor. I`ve tried the same clip with SDI-output in Premiere and it plays correct.

Also, I can`t scrub the MXf-file in vMix, it just continues to play. Even restart is acting weird.

I also tried to convert the clip to .MP4 with same settings as the MXF. The interlacing is better, but it`s jaggy (also tried that clip in Premiere, and it plays correct). Really noticeable on sharp edges. I have to output interlaced since it may have to be broadcast-standard, so blend-mode/deinterlacing is not an option. The resolution is 720x576i50.

EDIT:
The master framerate is 50i and output is set to 720x576 both external and in the settings. I have also tried 768x576..

What codec is being used in the MXF?
Are you able to upload a sample MXF and email it to us? (info@vmix.com.au)

In the Input Settings window in the Deinterlacing box it should say "Interlaced UpperFieldFirst" if it is decoding correctly.

Martin

A couple of minor issues.

1. If a preset is loaded, and an image file is missing vMix (v14) asks for the missing file for that Input. But if a Photos folder is missing, it's Input is just marked "offline". Should vMix not ask for the folder?

2. In a Virtual Set it is possible to select speed between F, M, S, C and a time (mm:ss). For F, M, S, and C the time is displyed. It is also possible to change the time, but clicking on anything except a set changes the time. Kind of confusing. The meaning of the time field needs to be clarified/explained. Maybe it would be useful to be able to change the time specified for the different set speeds. (And perhaps it should be specified in ss.ff instead, since I cannot imagine an hour long transition). Furthermore, sorry if this has been answered before and I forgot, the selected speed should be saved in the preset file (when loading a preset speed is always set to S).

Thanks.

When I set the resolution, both in settings and external output, to 1080i50 it seems much better. It handles the interlacing better and the jagginess is almost gone. Weird, cause the MXF-files are SD.

I don`t have that option in the input settings? Only have a box that says "video is interlaced" which i can tick on/off..

It`s mpeg2, I`ll send you a sample tomorrow.

Think i will be producing the stream tomorrow in HD. Seems like thats better..

I did a quick test to confirm it works like a charm with ffmpeg and the doyousee.me CDN.
(I already thought it would work because i'm a heavy ffmpeg user on Linux)
