I’ve not had great results using vMix call. 90% of the time, I would say the call quality is a 4/10.

I love how easy it is to get callers into the show using vMix call, but the quality is so bad I’m thinking about switching to Teams or similar.

Tone13, are you using the new advanced.vmixcall.com link, or the old www.vmixcall.com link?

I've tried both.

I may just be really unlucky but the call quality 90% of the time is pretty poor.

if only BasicHD would allow for a fullscreen view of the return video of a vMix call. I love being able to remote into the computer and drive the tech side of the call taking the caller's tech skills (or lack of) out of the loop. but once it's all set, they need to see just the return video.

Please, please make this app!!! This would make vMix a powerhouse. Using other apps to do this is a real pain, having an app would be epic! We would all pay for this!

What if vMix Basic HD had a mode switch where Normal Mode was good old vMix Basic HD...

But Caller Mode would transform the vMix desktop into a simpler interface with camera, mic and speakers as inputs/outputs and a large monitor return feed from host.

Cost: $60 a copy.

+1 [Partially]. Most people on the client side don't have to buy software to join a call.

What if...all vMix software (like the trial) had a mode like that, so non-technical people could be asked to download the software as a Zoom-like installation. It's a bigger DL, but I'm thinking potential buyers (and current users) of vMix.

At least, I'd propose that the framework is there to turn the Basic version into a vMix Call client - at full resolution - with the ability to change to normal 'mode' for evaluation.

The problem with enterprise clients is that their computers are locked and if a software client would be available it should be just an exe/msi (msi prefered for SCCM automatic rollout/installation) file that is able to run without admin permission.

We have used vMix Basic HD for this, and it works great. But for general use, like interviews, it would be an advantage for something that runs standalone.

As people have mentioned, Browsers are bug filled for camera/mic selection, and limited speed. We have found interviewees have better experience using phone rather than laptop.

But a small app, even a PC app would be great.

Vmix NEEDS to have an app that the client end can download and use as a dedicated Vmix Call app. Everyone knows how to do zoom calls, but Vmix Calls have way too many issues! I was told to have the client install the trial version on their computer but it is WAY too technically challenging for most people to setup.

PLEASE VIMIX GUYS, make an app that will do this! it will take your program to another level!

Browser based access has to remain for corporate users who can't install/don't have admin privileges/are on odd hardware like Chromebooks.

That said, there are other platforms that have managed to get 1080p feeds in the browsers (e.g. Streamyard) and even access to BMD I/O devices through the browser (e.g. Riverside.fm). May take a bit more engineering, but I don't think the browser itself is the limiting factor.

That said, a standalone app (in addition to browsers!) may offer interesting opportunities.

Either browser or app based access could/should also tackle the persistent problem with VMix call making it difficult to have redundancy. It would be nice if the caller can be provided a primary and backup call number and where we can control the failover to the backup system if needed without user intput.
