I noticed if I launch vmix, then go to the folder I have saved a preset(template) & double clicking on it, vMix won't load that preset(template) into the already open vMix.
But if I close vMix & double click the Preset file, it will launch vMix on it own & load everything in the preset(template).
If I also launch vmix & then go through the OPEN tab & choose the preset(template) I created it works.
Is this a vMix 28 problem or is it something I am doing wrong?

This seems like the expected behavior to me.
The default Windows behavior when opening a file outside of an in-program menu is to open another instance of that program with that file loaded.
vMix is generally going to be limited to a single instance for a variety of reasons, so I wouldn't expect that to work.
That's why the "Open" menu within vMix exists.
As you noted, you can also open the launcher by opening the file itself when vMix is closed.
