It's rather distracting when trying to concentrate on several live cameras and a dozen other things. It seems to come on at 75% which is not that high and if a system teeters back and forth over that amount often it's like an annoying red strobe light at the bottom of the screen.

75 % is rather high. It is recommended to hit No higher than 50 % CPU.

I wouldn't work comfortably with 75% cpu. Especially because with hyperthreading on, 50% might actually be 100% for some cpu resources.

I hear what you're saying, but 75% is not that high if everything is working properly. On the old quad core I used I was always over 75% when streaming 720p and it all worked smoothly. I didn't need to be constantly reminded the CPU was that high. On my new modern 7700, pushing 3 bitrates (1080,720,360) causes the reading to fluctuate wildly anywhere between 50 and 75, and this causes the annoying strobe effect.

It's a good feature, it's just poorly implemented and placed on the screen.. imo of course.
