So we're streaming with a PC laptop where I usually use the HDMI output on the computer to show the vMix output on a tv monitor, which works just fine. Now since we stream sports and now have a big screen in the arena we want to get the output from vMix onto that one. The big screen uses a Macbook where I somehow need to get the video signal into that computer.

Now we got a Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder for the Macbook since I thought it would just be as easy as plugging the HDMI cable into that one instead of into the tv screen, but I can't seem to get any signal to send into the Mini Recorder. Does anyone know how I get the vMix output into the Mini Recorder or into the Mac computer in any other way? I probably have missed something very simple, but got no clue what it could be. Hopefully someone has some experience with this as it would be very nice to be able to show the fans at the arena replays and so on.

Will see if it's an option. The Mac uses the network for sending the video to the big screen though and not sure if it's the same network. Surely it should be possible to send it out through HDMI aswell I hope.

Tried the NDI solution out, will not work. I can't pick the NDI signal up in the software they use to show everything on the screen. So still looking for a way to get the signal out from vMix to the Mini Recorder via HDMI as I know the software can show whatever is input to that. Must be something I'm just doing wrong since it's no problem using it as an external output on a monitor.

If you want to go out of vmix into the MAC BMD device, just use the fullscreen output in Vmix (note it has to be setup and "fullscreen" button needs to be pressed.)

Go out of the vmix computer's HDMI out into the BMD device--

A word of caution -- you will need to have the specs setup in BMD desktop video EXACTLY as being input or you will see nothing.

Think this is where it might have gone wrong! I just checked the Blackmagic panel in the Mac system settings, guess Desktop video is a separate software that I might have missed from what it seems. Will try this whenever I get the chance to, thanks!

I am a PC person, -- heres my approach

Send a signal to BMD device
Open up Desktop video
Desktop Video will tell you parameters it is seeing (ie 720p 59.94)
I then tell vmix or whatever I am using to capture the exact specs desktop video detected.
