Hello Martin,
Could we get some info on how the new NDI 3 supports multicast in vMix?
We have several vMix systems that share NDI signals. Is this now multicast by itself ? How do we turn this on?

Thanks,
Steve

Generally saying: Multicast has to be enabled at the NDI source and at the Switches inbetween. On the Switches make sure you use managed Switches and enable the IGMP Spoofing. On the receiving side the IP changes to one of the multicast space addresses. Multicast works like a RSS feed. You have to subscribe and then you are able to receive the data.

If your network doesn't support multicast stay with unicast and monitor for congestions.

Mavik,
I am very aware of how multicast works.

My question is about NDI/vMix's implementation of it.
Specifically, are the outputs multicast enabled?
Also the receivers? I have had some issues when I have tried to turn on multicast with the NewTek PTZ's and getting vMix to see them.

Install NDI Tools on the system and using NDI Access Manager you will have the ability to setup the multicast network. Make sure you run NDI Access Manager as Administrator for the changes to take affect. If you have a old download of NDI Tools, download it again to get the new versions of these tools.

Also, make sure your switches have IGMP Snooping enabled. If your switches do not have this feature, then you should not use multicast.

Thanks Kane, I will look into this, So the Multicast is handled by the access manager, not the transmitters and receivers themselves?
I have not looked at the new access manager.

Access Manager configures the registry settings that tells all NDI applications on this computer that they can use multicast.
