This way you can record one without pauses, the other one entirely.

For example, Edius puts a marker in the video on which you can quickly and easily make edits to the video ...

While we are waiting on the proceedings, the Live Viewers still need to be live, but it would be good if recordings can pause, so that when used later, the waiting during the holdup in proceedings is not in the recording. I could stop and start recording, but then the filename changes, and so files need to be manually identified and merged later, which takes a lot of work.

But stopping isn't that bad either. You would have a file you can work on in the meantime. Consider your system dies while in pause. If the file is corrupt after reboot you have nothing. If you stop you would still have your recordings.
