Hello!

I keep getting this error message while running Vmix (see screen capture)

"Attempted to read or write to protected memory.... Unhanded"

Running windows 10 64 bit
Gigabyte brand laptop. Intel i7 2.60 GHZ
Installed memory 16 GB (Crucial brand)

Vmix 19.0.0.54

It usually shows up in about a half hour of running Vmix.
As tests I would just let vmix run and not do anything -- and then it pops up. sometimes in about 30 min. Sometimes takes a little longer. But sooner or later it pops up.

I assume the message is being generated by Vmix.

I did some hours long memory tests and got no errors. It was a very deep memory test. So it appears my memory is good.

BTW even if I am not streaming I get this message.

So I am wondering if something else is triggering this message???

I see that I can push a button to "Send Error Report". I assume that error report is going to you people at Vmix.

It would be great if I could view that same error report -- in case it would help me trouble shoot this issue.

Thanks!

Thanks Tom and Steve,

My Nvidia driver seems to be up to date.

Interestingly I also have an Intel driver -- and that was NOT up to date -- so I updated that one and see what happens

Unless someone here has other suggestions.

Attached is a screen capture.

With the new Intel driver -- I'll report back here what happens :)

Cheers!

Better to go to Nvidia GeForce Experience to check for updates. Wouldn't trust Windows for that. Heck, Windows will try to update in the middle of a broadcast!

Thanks Tom,

As a test, with only the updated Intel driver I've had Vmix running for a couple of hours and no errors.

However I did download the Nvidia Experience software, and there is what they call a Game Ready Driver to install.

So I am installing that.

Will report back. In any case, I would say that in troubleshooting this issue, it doesn't hurt to make sure you Intel video driver is up to date. For me that seemed to fix the issue. Rather surprised that the Intel wasn't automatically updated, and required me to discover on my own that an update was needed.

I'll report back after I test with the latest Nvidia Experience -- Game Ready Driver.

So far so good!

Hmmmm

Here's the install screen I see in the Geforce thingie. Two of the items are already checkmarked by default.

The Graphics driver is unchecked even though it says I have an older version installed. It is also possible that my specific card does not actually support the update....

New: 384.76
Current Old Graphics Driver: Version 376.54

The panel won't let me check the new version of the Graphics driver. Not sure why. Maybe it wants me to install the 2 other items first.

However, my question is for Vmix (I'm not a game player) do I even need the "3D Version driver" or the PhyxSystem Software.

I want to be conservative regarding what I install in relation to my drivers -- and only add what Vmix wants. (To keep future troubleshooting simple :)

Please see attachment. I'm holding off installing anything from the Gforce thingie until I hear opinions here.

Still running Vmix with no errors with just the Intel video driver updated.

Thanks!

I once had an issue I couldn't update the Nvidia-driver, simply removed it and did a new install...

I think it just means that the new driver will be installed anyway and you can't deselect it. Give it a go...

Interesting -- it says the Intel HD Graphics 530

There is also "Default" which is not selected.

Nowhere do I see the Geoforce Nvida driver as an option in the dropdown.

Interesting!

Would not Nvida be a better choice, since it is installed.

HEre's a screen shot of my device manager, so the GTX is definitely installed.

You were correct. I did the install and the updated Nvidia driver was installed.

So now I have the latest Nvida driver.

Will see now if Vmix recognizes that driver. Instead of the Intel driver. WIll do a reboot and see what happens.

Rebooted Windows 10

Have the updated Nvida driver

6/27/2017
22.21.13.8476
This device is working properly.

Vmix is still reporting that it is using the "Intel Driver". Again the only other option is "Default". So sticking with Intel driver until the Vmix Forum tells me otherwise.

Letting Vmix run and see if any errors pop up.

WIll report back!

Thanks again everyone. Amazing forum support.

When this happens I have had to add vMix to the list of GPU programs in the nVidia control panel.

Actually I never use the "experience". It installs a bunch of junk for gamers you don't need. I go to www.nVidia.com and download the drivers. I then select custom install and only load drivers - not the Experience.

my 2 cents. :-)

Also, if you do the Creators Update you will have control over when Windows Updates happen - finally!

So I right clicked on my desktop and brought up the Nvidia control panel and added Vmix (64) to the list of programs.

IF I select "High Performance Nivida processor" from the dropdown, and apply it and try to run Vmix -- VMix own't run. It almost immediately shuts down with a windows warning.

If I choose "Use global settings (Auto select: integrated) then Vmix will open -- but only show the Intel option in settings.

Wow, something is wrong, you applied the correct settings. Maybe if support could look at the log file?
Have you contacted them? I think that is your next step.
