Hi vMix'ers,

It's almost here! We finished version 1.0 of the vMix Virtual Control Surface for Windows. vMix Virtual Control Surface is a software control surface for controlling vMix. This app enables you to control vMix from anywhere within your network. It provides the feel of a traditional hardware switcher. Simply enterm the IP address of the computer running vMix and click connect. This can run on the same computer as vMix or another machine on the network. This is available at the link below. We will be adding the audio mixer portion of the tab in the next release. We also plan on adding an NDI multiviewer controller down the road as well. For this first version, the window will not be resizable although we are hoping to get that integrated in the future. The current window size is 1024x768.

Purchase vMix Virtual Control Surface Here

vMix Virtual Control Surface 1.0 Features:
-12 preview buttons
-12 program buttons
-12 overlay buttons
-4 DSK buttons to control up to 4 overlay channels
-4 transition buttons
-4 user programmable buttons (programmed within vMix as F1, F2, F3 and F4 buttons)
-Record, Stream, External, FadeToBlack and Take buttons
-Smooth T-Bar
-Displays Recording Duration
-Realtime display updates from vMix.

Can we have some instructions please for the iOS version? Or am I missing it somewhere? I'm stuck at entering the vMix IP address.. I enter it and what next? I just see the 'not connected' message :(

Hi Castfeeder,

On the iOS App, click on the ip address and enter the IP address of the vMix machine you want to connect to. For instance 192.168.1.101. Only include the IP Address. Once you are done, click the enter button to close the keyboard. Once that is done it should connect. One thing you need to make sure is that your internet connection settings in Windows is set to Public network instead of Home or Work. Let me know if that works! Seth@TheCloudMediaGroup.com

I just bought and installed the program, but am a bit disappointed..... it does not have any audio mixer as like iOS version......it sees vMix as soon as it is opened on the same PC, but it will not launch on my windows 8 laptop

UPDATE: I reunzip the file after installing .net update, and now it opens in windows 8, but it takes up the entire screen,.....is there a scaling method here.....

Hi Seth: I have done all of the above. Both my ipad and pc are on same network, Windows 10 is set to public, Taken IP address from vMix 'web controller' and input into surface. Hit return, nothing happens.

Did you include only the IP Address in the window? A common issue is the inclusion of the :8088 in the IP window. Also, are you on the same subnet as vMix? Another way to tell if the network setting is correct is if you access the native web panel directly from your browser.

You can also send me an email at Seth@TheCloudMediaGroup.com

We will be adding the audio mixer very soon. This will be included as an update when it is finished!

Also, there is no scaling at this point. We hope to add this in the near future. It's much more complicated than you would think. What is the resolution of your laptop screen?

My screen resolution is 1366 x 768, but like I said earlier, the older version is much smaller .....and I used it several times without any issues....actually, all that is missing from the older version is the audio mixer the 'connect' and the 'full screen' buttons.

Hi Seth, I have now got the app working on my iPad Pro Tablet, but as the attached images show, I'm losing a lot of screen real estate. Any chance you can offer a suitable template for users of this model iPad? Then it should help 'button accuracy' more with my thick fingers!

Seems I am unable to upload the images, so I will email them to your email address ...

Congratulations and thank you for releasing the app!

Let me check on that. It should be filling up the whole screen on the iPad. I may need to change something. Thanks for the heads up.

You bet! Audio update is coming very soon.

Scaling is going to be tough on the Windows version, possible but tough. The iOS version simply has an auto scale setting that makes the app fit the screen.

The Windows version however is incredibly difficult. You would think it would be as easy as resizing an image. Wish it was easier.

Here is a screenshot from the audio tab that will be released soon. It will add the audio monitoring and control for the app. The different tabs have been arranged like the iOS app.

One update that is not currently available on the iOS app is the monitoring of muted audio. Muted audio will show up with the blue meters, like in vMix.

Are you going to add the monitoring of muted audio to the IOS version? If so is there a timeframe?

Thanks

Yes, we will be adding that. The interface for the audio meters is a bit different on iOS than Windows. Hopefully it shouldn't take a long time, but my hope is to get the update submitted to Apple in the next couple weeks.
