Hi

Has anyone any experience of using the AJA IO XT with vMix ?

We've borrowed a unit as we'd like to do a 2 camera mix

We connected the unit to the laptop via Thunderbolt, installed the windows drivers, restarted the computer, and launched vMix.

Unfortunately no AJA is listed on the available inputs when selecting camera.

Indeed, launching the AJA control application, no device is found, so I'm wondering if maybe the unit is faulty ?

Any help / suggestions most welcome.

Many thanks in advance

@ brandonbees

First thing I would do is ask the person you borrowed it from if it was working for them?
And of course, the fundamental support geek patronizing question: "Is the device plugged in and turned ON?" (you'd be surprised how often that's the problem, but I digress)
Next I would suspect cabling, have you tried another Thunderbolt cable?
Following that, I would ask if any other Thunderbolt devices work on that Laptop?
(BTW, what laptop is it? Not a lot on the PC market that have Thunderbolt ports)
As you know, the fact that the AJA control application does not detect the device means that something is awry in the chainlink between the computer and the device and it has to be one of those three things: the computer (Thunderbolt port), the cable or the device itself, and the only way to find out is to test each of those elements.

As Ice said, all elements have to be checked carefully.

Thunderbolt 1-2 ports can be easily be confused with Mini Display Ports. And TB3 with USB3.1 Gen2.
Do you have a lightning thunder symbol next to this port?

Firstly, thanks guys for such prompt responses.

I usually use a BM Ultrastudio to do my streams (single input) and I've tested that unit, the thunderbolt, and the SDI cable from the camera and that all works fine in vMix.

I have a gaming laptop that PC Specialist built for me a couple of years ago.

The AJA box is a colleague's that he bought second hand last summer for a job that then wasn't required.

So he's not actually used it.

So with laptop, SDI cable, and thunderbolt cable all working ok, I'm suspecting its an issue with the AJA box.
