I have a Sony Network PTZ Cam SNC-RZ25N trying for hours to add as an input (stream) to my VMix, tried every combination possible, I am able to access the camera view and control via IE browser, this is my latest error message with this setting:

RTSP over TCP

URL rtsp://192.168.1.3

Received this error message:

"no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it "192.168:554"

Enviroment:

Toshiba Sattelite
Windows 10 home
4GB RAM
Intel Celeron 2.16GHz
vMix 18.0.0.59 x64

Appreciate any help

The Sony SNC-RZ25 doesn't support rtsp.

You can use Alax (free directshow filter) to use the RZ25 in vMix.

Thank you for the info, I install Alax but no luck yet, first vmix was giving this error ""AddNewInput This operation cannot be performed because the filter is active"" when adding the newly Alax camera, if I change the resolution to match the cam then I get black screen. I can also do a web browser input but I can only see the blue sony interface with the menu items (see pic) , no image. The only only way so far for my RZ25 is desktop capture and zoom adjust.

I have registered the sony camera on alax using url's with and without user/passowrd, my camera URL is "http://192.168.1.3/en/AViewer.html, I wonder if I have to type a different path after the IP.

Also can you tell that in the case I can add the cam on Vmix via alax, will I be able to PTZ it inside Vmix?

I am using this url for the SNC-RZ25 in Alax: http://user:password@ip-adres:port/image

(use 640x480 25p camera input settings in vMix to avoid the remarkable "This operation cannot be performed because the filter is active" message)

The SNC-RZ series is (as far as I know) not supported by vMix PTZ.


Btw. the quality of ip-grabbing by Alax is comparable with video-grabbing by a good capture card.
The latency in Alax is a bit higher if you don't have at least an i5 processor.
When using 2 or 3 camera's in Alax you need an i7, otherwise the latency will increase a lot.
