Made the move to vMix 18 to find NDI Video output no longer available. Was all good just prior to the upgrade. No messages from Windows Firewall indicating any blocks. All other Newtek NDI applications, VLC NDI Player & NewBlueFX Titler NDI are working OK.

Even reset Windows Firewall to default, and executed all (yes all) software installed on the workstation, and granted permissions as required. vMix was flagged, as was vMix NDI Helper and given the required permissions as per normal. Has something changed in the NDI output settings of vMix 18.0.0.57?

Should all be working just the same as 17.
Did you double check Settings -> External Output to see if it is still enabled?

We've tested numerous different systems to make sure it is all working correctly, but if it is still not working
please drop us an email and send a support report so we can investigate further.

Can you run the following isolation tests:

1. Make sure all NDI related programs on the network and locally are closed
2. Start vMix then go to Add Input -> NDI and see if vMix' own sources are in the list.

Then you can slowly start running other software until the problem is found.

One thing worth nothing is 18.0.0.16 is from the beta, so upgrade that to 18.0.0.18
and make sure any 18 versions of vMix and desktop capture on the network have also been upgraded to the release versions.

NDI is updated since 17, but I haven't seen any of these issues so far when trying to replicate your results so
there must be a common denominator on your systems that is different to what we have tested.

Martin

Hi Martin. Followed your instructions per above. Updated the vMixDesktopCaptureNDI to version 18-0-0-18. All good with both receiving and transmitting NDI with vMix 18-0-0-57. No other changes were performed on the workstation to achieve this.

Now the not so good news. All the Newtek NDI Toolkit applications (NDI VLC Player, NDI Scan Converter, NDI Test Pattern & NDI Connect) broadcast beautiful pictures as always. However, vMix 18-0-0-57 NDI is now very poor quality as you can see below. You may recall, I have the same Z170 system as yourself, except with a nVidia 970. I have imaged the partition of Windows 10 Pro and copied it to the same SSD drive, so as to compare results between vMix 17-0-0-112 and vMix 18-0-0-57. Chalk and cheese when it comes to vMix NDI. It so looks like a bandwidth or NDI compression ratio problem in the new implementation. MS Process Explorer reports only 3-5% usage when vMix NDI is running one stream on the Z170. So resource usage on all counts are well within acceptable limits. Curious all this.

Thanks for your patience on this, I can confirm there is an image corruption issue that impacts interlaced outputs in particular.
A fix is being worked on and should be available soon.

One thing to note, is the screenshots mention a screen capture but it looks like you are using the vMix outputs?
The desktop capture app only needs to be running when capturing Display1,2 from a remote PC, the "vmix - x" sources all come from vMix directly.

Martin
