Hey all!

Ok... so for a long time I was happily rolling along on Win10 with vMix and Skype. I use vMix as a input camera to Skype and life was good.

A few days ago (after both a skype and vmix update as well as a Win10 update *sigh*) the following situation arises. When I connect a call in Skype using vmix as the input, right after the call sets up the video from me to the other user dies, and the video button on skype goes dark.

The same computer using the USB camera directly in Skype works fine. The same setup using Manycam works fine (yes, I hate Manycam with a passion too, but it IS useful for testing this stuff) and if I run vmix through Manycam to Skype? It also works fine.

Any ideas?

Ken

I had the same experience the other day trying to use vMix for the first time in a Skype for Business session.

Ken,
Another vMix user and I have the very same problem. We tried to use Skype in vMix several different days; our vMix camera in Skype failed too. I even rolled back vMix to version 77, the vMix camera in Skype still failed.
Some are saying this is due to the Anniversary version of Windows 10. Thing is, I do not have the Anniversary version of Windows 10 in the computer I use for Skype integration.
It has been said, a fix for this issue is possibly coming in the September Windows update. Hope this info is correct.

I have Windows 10 Anniversary update and the latest vMix and Skype and video work ok,
The key is to get vMix to show up properly in Skype, External must be turned on in vMix
and Vmix Video must be selected in Skype...

It looks like there is a bug in the very latest Skype using vMix Video.
To fix this, download the installed from the Skype web site which is a bit older and works fine:

https://www.skype.com/en...for-windows/downloading/

Version should be 7.26.0.101

Ignore any prompts to update Skype until they resolve the issue.

Problem version is 7.27.x.x

Martin

Thanks Martin,

If you want to stop Skype's auto updates you can do that in the Tools option. In the left column in the Tools toolbox go down to the "Advanced Settings". Once you click the "Advanced Settings" you'll see Automated Updates just below. Click that setting to turn off Skype's automatic updates. Be sure to save your selection before closing tat box.

Hi,

Further to my previous post, we have done some more testing and found out that vMix Video may not work
with the previous versions of Skype either, which were working fine as of a few weeks ago.

This leads me to believe the issue is to do with how Skype are connecting video on their servers.

If Bob and Larry want to setup a call, and there is no video when Bob calls Larry, try the other direction where Larry calls Bob instead.
In our tests if one direction doesn't work the other usually does.

Regards,

Martin

My vMix failed to connect to a Skype for Business conference call. This was using a Skype plugin for Chrome.

I suspect that you ar right about it being an issue on Skype's end, however in this scenario there is no option for changing who starts the session because ther are many invitees to a scheduled session .

So it would be Most helpful to find out why some new configuration is having difficulty using vmix, but not having issues with a regular webcam.
